I hope Springfield is not planning to phase out the grip safety. Its one of the features that set them apart. They should have found a way to incorporate grip safety into the Hellcats. Then I would get one, but not without a grip safety.

I will never own a gun with a grip safety. In an immediate life or death situation it could be very dangerous if your grip isn't perfect, and I've seen that myself with a grip safety gun on a range trip running quick draw self defense drills. So glad the Hellcat doesn't have one because that's my carry pistol. Never would have bought it with a grip safety.

​@@DrownInLysergic sounds like a personal problem. Bc even with a light grip this one still performs. If you quick draw this to fire and can't engage the safety. Then you don't have control enough to fire any handgun.

Great video, I was wondering just the other day what people thought of the two in contrast to each other; as mag capacity ain't everything. But, regardless of any contrast between the firearms, at the end of the day, if you or a loved one's life is in danger any tool and skill level is better than none!

I have a 1st gen XDS with a technaclip on it, so the grip safety is vital. The thinness of the gun couples nicely with the clip, and it's comfortable in gym/basketball shorts or anything else for that matter. If I'm opting for a belt, I'm usually going for a bigger firearm altogether. So I'm one of those people who skipped over the Hellcat. Looks like a cool piece, tho' 😎

I purchased the XDS mod 2 earlier this year for $400. While the HC is a fine gun, its not worth selling/trading my XDS for. I carry my XDS equipped with the 8 round mag +1. 9 rounds is totally adequate for my self protection needs. If going on a road trip, I’ll bring all 3 mags. Now if I were in the market today for a concealed carry edc, I’d go with the Hellcat.

I just put 200 down on the last one in my local store it comes with a 7 round with pinkie extension and a 9 round with sleeve and grip extension. The osp model so it's optic ready. I Wana order a nice iwb holster and also would like a couple more 8 and 9 round factory mags

I own both the mod 2 in 9mm and the hellcat pro. I love both and they both get carried, sometimes at the same time if I have a heavy coat on lol.

Just got an XDS a few weeks ago. I got it cause of the price tag and the rebate. I've had the original xds in the past, the new mod 2 is 100x better in comfort. I've heard lots of good things on the hellcat pro.

It's funny when you talk about barrel length because most guys won't buy the right ammo for the shorter barrel and wonder why their accuracy is lacking. Thanks for the video I can pick this gun up brand new 300 bucks I think you sold me on it

I alternate the XDS in .45 and the Hellcat for EDC. I deal with magazine restrictions when I travel to Crook County Illinois!

I have 2 XDS 45s..GREAT powerhouse!!! Just throw a couple extra mags in pockets...its unlikely you will need them after sending 7 230 grain .452 caliber slugs downrange!

I have both and carry both depending on my attire for the day. Just a t shirt, I'm carrying the XDs, if I have a polo on, Hellcat. Both are great carry guns.

I'm still carrying the XD-S and been carrying it since it's came out... I'm getting the Hellcat Pro in the very near future but a single stack handgun is still very adequate.

The hellcat pro is a touch longer in barrel length and grip length than the old xds model. I traded my xds off about a year ago and replacing it with the hellcat pro because it reminds me so much of the xds I carried for a long time, but on steroids when it comes to capacity. Can't go wrong with the xd series, but that hellcat is just as reliable and easy to love.

@@andrewsavage1872 I finally went to the store to look at a Hellcat pro the other day and when I put my XD-S next to it I was really happy because it's just a little bigger like you said but it's not so big that it's going to be hard to hide. I ended up buying one and just ordered several new mags so I can put it through its paces before I carry it. So far I like it but I might end up putting an Apex trigger in it because the stock trigger is pretty heavy. It's pulling close to 7lbs but it breaks clean so I'm not 100% sure what I'm gonna do yet.

@@DanielBoone337 I enjoyed shooting the one I picked up for my niece straight out of the box. I didn't notice anything terrible about the trigger and I carry a single action for edc so after shooting it you may not mind the trigger so much. I ordered a pair of pro's and the xdm elite 9mm 21+1 with threaded barrel, I'll carry the xdm and one of the hellcats, and my wife gets the other hellcat. Can't go wrong with five 15 round mags for the backup gun and five 21 round mags for the new main carry gun, figure I'll let my $1200 1911 take a bit of time to hang out in the safe and quit scratching the piss out of it. I think when you start shooting that hellcat your xds will follow suit of my 1911, unless it becomes the backup pistol...

@@andrewsavage1872 it wasn't a terrible trigger just a heavy one... I own most of the XD-Mod2, XDM, and XDM Elite series of handguns along with my XD-S and none of them have a heavy trigger pull like my Hellcat Pro. I also own at least 1 of most of the 1911's Springfield makes or made and carry a 1911 quite often. My next buy will be the new double stack 1911 they just dropped yesterday.

@@DanielBoone337 I'm not in love with the prodigy, but if you're getting one I'd recommend going with the shorter 4.25" barrel or whatever it is, seems a lot of folks are having issues with the 5" from what I've seen, and they don't seem to like hand loads if you happen to be a reloader. For what its worth on a $1000+ 1911 from Springfield I'd prefer the emissary over the prodigy any day.

i have neither but I am fine with a single stack if needed. I mean I carry 2 J frames for crying out loud. I think whichever one felt better in my hand is the one I would choose. If I got the mod 2 I'd carry with the 8 round mag tbh. The 9 round adds too much grip. I'll tell you what I like better about each one though. For the Mod 2: -I think it looks nice -I am a lefty so having the ambi mag release is a huge bonus -I like the grip safety because if I reholster I can 100% prevent a discharge by putting my hand below it during the reholster For the Hellcat: -I LOOOOOOVE those sights tbh. They are so easy to pick up and I love the glockish goal posts and hi viz front -Capacity is very nice I feel like for me either one would work. But actually I like single stacks more because they are easier to load the mags at the range without fatiguing and needing a speedloader and the fact a single stack is inherently more reliable. But idk, the hellcat I hear is very nice in size too. It's actually somehow lighter. What's bound to happen is I'm at some point just going to own both but I think I want the mod 2 first since it's likely to be discontinued first.

I went to buy my xds osp didnt even look at the hellcat i refuse to leave this platform i been carrying xds for a couple years now and i love it .yes the hellcat has more capacity but i live in MA where 10rd is the max capacity so im good with 9+1

No. The XDs comes in 45, the hellcat doesn't.

i had the hellcat and now i own the mod 2 and honestly the mod 2 for me is just easier to shoot the hellcat osp i had shot very low and to the left due to it being so small so if you got bigger hands that trigger pull might throw you off some

No 9mm will "kills the XDS 45...stop kidding yourself....there are times when 6 or 7 or 8 BIG 230 grain slugs are VERY comforting!!!! Think bad breath distance with no escape route against someone 250lbs + & built like a gorilla! Or legitimate large animal defense!!! There are times when 9mm need not apply! 🤷‍♂️

@@ballsack8937 you can put all the +s on it you want...9mm won't leave a PERMANENT wound cavitation like a properly expanded .45acp....then if you add +p to the .45 again the 9mm needs to stay in its lane...from someone who carries a glock 19 gen 3 daily ..but also a xds 45
