When I first entered this market, I was looking at the Glock 43x, the Hellcat and the SIG 365. I chose the Hellcat and was generally happy with it, except for the trigger guard which was bladed on the side and rubbed my middle finger. I have now bought the Kimber and feel confident that I upgraded. The trigger is much better than the Hellcat, the sights are a little better, the accuracy is better, the Mako has true ambidextrous capabilities which is great if you are forced to shoot weak hand, some neat innovations like the shrouded ejection window, the shelf to prevent riding the slide the solid barrel to slide lock up and full grip texture all over the frame, it is an excellent offering in the class. It is also a value laden offering especially if you get the bundle which has 4 extra mags, a range bag and IWB/OWB kydex holster from Mission first tactical. That brings the cost of the pistol itself down to around $400 which is a steal!

I own both. Disagree. Kimber is a better gun all around. The trigger breaks in nice, it's much more accurate, faster to shoot and much less recoil. Kimber has a 10 round mag with pinky extension as well. Kimber is not glock style takedown. They have glock style levers, but more like extended controls on a glock. Taking down the kimber is like opening a car hood, if you try to slide it on like a glock it doesn't work well. Kimber is a few ounces heavier. The 11 round kimber mag slants in the opposite direction of most short mags. You get like a baseball grip with the 11 rounder, your pinky is not hanging off the bottom. It works very well. If they made a 15 round mag it would be awesome.

I own and carry the Sig P365, P365XL, Hellcat Pro, and M&P Shield Plus. All great guns with their own advantages and disadvantages. I have shot most of the other "micro" or sub-compact 9mm handguns on the market and consider these the best (for my preferences). I would like to shoot the Kimber but have never seen one in the wild. I know "Mrs. Outlaw" chose this one for her EDC earlier this year and seems to be happy with it.

I wouldn’t call the Mako a micro compact but it is still very small and easy to carry. I own several subs and what makes the Mako my top pick is the trigger! Seeing is believing. I picked up the Mako and although it's not as small (more like a G26 than a P365) it's by far the better shooter for me with a smooth as glass 4 pound trigger. You should send yours in to Kimber and have them fix that issue with the grit, that doesn't sound normal. By the way, Kimber has the 10 round flush mag. They just send it with the 11's now.

Kimber - way better trigger, FULL ambi for us left handers, way less snappy in your hand. I have the Hellcat OSP and have a hard time shooting it as it is so snappy. I hear the Kimber is very accurate as well. The hellcat is accurate too but I found follow up shots on my Hellcat were bad due to the snappiness of the Hellcat and trying to reaquire the target quickly was hard.

I bought a Hellcat OSP brand new about 5 months ago and to date I have over 1500 rounds through it and I absolutely love it. I did put a Holosun 407k Green Dot on it right away and 150 rounds into it I installed the entire Apex Trigger enhancement kit with sear and striker spring which was already a lot nicer than the stock trigger after installing, but it has gotten even smoother since then. But I have to say that recently I did get to shoot a Kimber Mako R7 and I was very impressed by it. It was a smoother shooter than my Hellcat, it was also comfortable in the hands but the thing I was most impressed about it was the trigger. Even the Kimber Mako R7 stock trigger with barely any rounds put through the gun is a bit smoother than my broken in Apex Trigger on my Hellcat. It is so smooth. I would say if you are going for ultimate concealability and or the extra round with the flush mag, the Hellcat would be the better choice but I would say if you got a Mako R7 that proves to be reliable for you, and you were looking for a smoother shooter, it is the better choice of the two.

I’ve owned both and I gotta say the mako easily takes the cake for me. I actually ended up selling my hellcat after I got the mako because it felt like such a superior gun why would I ever want to carry a worse gun? Hellcat might be a tad smaller/lighter , have better capacity aftermarket parts etc, but in terms of shootability and ergonomics I think the mako is far superior, at ten yards I was shooting damn near perfect groupings with the mako whereas with the hellcat my groups would be all over no matter how many times I adjusted my grip or my shooting position. The hellcat just isn’t a very accurate gun imo. Both are still good options for concealed carry though guess it just depends on what you value in a gun.
@Shenmue064 ай бұрын
The sig p365 is the same exact way. I ended up selling after 2 years of carrying it because it was inferior compared to my M&p shield. I couldn't shoot the p365 at all and my shots were all over the place even at close distance. I'm super accurate with the m&p shield because it fits the hands better and has a better trigger break. The hellcat & p365 are insanely overrated and both this kimber and the shield are superior. The p365 and hellcat are simply too small and the triggers are horrible. The kimber and shield are the perfect size for both comfortable carry and accuracy. The p365 and hellcat wouldn't be as popular as they are if they wouldn't have been the first 2 high capacity micro options.

Capacity should include chamber as capacity. I don't see a problem with that. One should state the magazine capacity. Saying +1 sounds stupid. Why would anyone put an optic on a carry gun to shoot 3-7 yards?

Specifying +1 prevents confusion. Otherwise it would always be a question.

@shuumai Жыл бұрын
@@sycamorebacker1 for those who don't load the chamber, it's easy to figure out that the +1 doesn't apply, thus 13, not 13 plus a chambered round. It's marketing, but also understandable with the industry shifting from revolvers to semi-autos. Also consider that the chambered round might not be +1, but just stripped from the magazine. To me 13+1 is much more clear to me without depending on specifying 14 maximum,14 fully loaded, or 13 round mag capacity. Using only a number, all companies would have to agree to only specify magazine capacity. That's the real problem, I think.

@@sycamorebacker1 I guess you are technically right. 100% agree. As far as I've seen the hellcat has the 2nd worse trigger out of the micro options. The worst trigger is the p365 because it has a mushy rolling break and the hellcat has a messy heavy trigger with creep after the wall before the break. The kimber has one of the better micro triggers. Not only that but it feels better in the hands similar to the shield and it's less snappy than the hellcat. I don't like the p365 or the hellcat. I ended up selling my p365 after 2 years of carrying it because it was inferior to my m&p shield. I couldn't shoot the p365 if my life depended on it. Even when I would rest it on a table I was STILL less accurate with the p365 than I am with the shield. They made the p365 and hellcat a little too small for people with large hands. The shield and kimber can be used by people with all hand sizes.

Yeah he's the only person that I've seen on youtube say that the hellcat has a good trigger. The trigger in the hellcat is garbage in my opinion. I wish youtubers would slowly pull through the trigger break so that people can see the creep after the wall before the break. The hellcat doesn't break immediately at the wall. After you hit the wall it creeps before it finally breaks. I think that a lot of people are use to glock triggers and look past the creep. People that are use to platforms like the m&p, canik, cz, walther are going to hate the hellcat trigger because they're use to the trigger breaking immediately after pushing against the wall. The kimber does have the better trigger and it's overall a better size for people with bigger hands. The kimber is the size of the m&p shield while the hellcat is the size of the p365 so the kimber is easier to use in my opinion.

Biggest difference between these two once you disregard the optics capability is the Kimber is fully ambi and the Hellcat isn't so Kimber made sure to include 11% of the marketplace with this entry and Springfield didn't. Having said that, this ejection port cut is a total failure for left handed shooters. With a typical thumbs forward grip, your thumb not only blocks the shells ejection, but it forces the spent shell back into the weapon causing a malfunction/jam. To solve this issue as a lefty, you either shoot it with a revolver grip, or one handed because otherwise, you essentially own a single shot semi auto. FAIL on Kimber.
