For curiosity, this is the difference for the 2 calendars: Julian calendar: there is a leap year every 4 years, and that's it. Gregorian calendar: also there is a leap year every 4 years, but if the year is divisible by 100, then it's not a leap year, but it is if the year is divisible by 400. For example, 1800 and 1900 were not leap years, but 2000 was. So when the calendar was introduced there were 10 days of difference because 300, 500, 600, 700, 900, 1000, 1100, 1300, 1400, 1500 had been leap years when they were not supposed to be to keep the calendar correct

Obviously you focus entirely on the historical evidence debunking this, but another thing I think is interesting for this and other conspiracies is research regarding the number of people directly involved being inversely proportional(and I think exponential) to the length a conspiracy could remain hidden. Such that to last 5 years a max of 2500 people can be involved(and assuming they are all specifically motivated to keep the secret) but to last 50 years a max of 500 people can be involved. There's no way to say very few people would have been involved in this(mass rewrites occurring in multiple libraries/monasteries/government records across multiple countries) or that these people would be motivated to follow one fixed conspiracy(some countries involved having antagonistic religious/cultural/political interests with each other) and then the conspiracy lasts 1000+ years?

It's not that easy. The amount of C14 in the biosphere depends on solar activity and varies over time. So C14 dates have to be calibrated to another, known timeline, like dendrology. Thus you can always argue that an isolated C14 date is inaccurate ... context is important. This is different from other methods of radioactive dating.

The only way this could be verified would be to compare western history with eastern. You'd definitely notice that the east's history had a corresponding gap. That's the great thing about a pre-globalization Earth: it's like having two redundant servers.

I don't know enough about the caliphates, but every Chinese court since the Han Dynasty were so obsessed with counting years and recording astrological events that even at 15 when I first encountered this theory I knew it could be rejected out of hand. If they were like: 2300-2000 BCE didn't exist then I'd at least have to think about it a little.

I was going to comment that you were saying Niceae wrong but after looking it up you are just using the Latin pronunciation as opposed to the Greek pronunciation. I was unaware Latins had their own pronunciation, so I learned something 🙂 You know I mean other than that the middle ages really did happen but I kind of knew that going in lol.

Amazing episode. Very very interesting subject. Would love to see more such episodes, not about specific events or battles, but more theoritical like this one. Excellent. Since we are on the topic of conspiracy theories, you reminded me that as a young teenager and even as a young adult, i was really fascinated by Graham Hancock's theories and books. Not so much these days. I guess that as you grow older your mind is occupied more with everyday struggles and less with the pyramids and ancient aliens! I am not a tinfoiler. However it's a bit frustrating how many things seem to have happened just after the year 1000AD. The battle of Hastings in 1066, just after 1000AD, comes to mind. Or the great Spanish warrior El Cid who lived 1043-1099. Or the Crusades in 1095. I was just reading about the life of Robert Guiscard, 1015-1085. MAN, the 11th century was chalkfull of events and important people! It sure seems like all history waited for the 1000AD year to break loose. And before that... Well... There are certain things, yes, but... a literal handful come to mind, for 300 years....

Did you ever wonder who the great warrior El Cid was fighting for and against if the Umayyads never conquered Hispania?
@atticdisorder2 жыл бұрын
@@eljanrimsa5843 That's another valid point that the tinfoilers raise. Why, did the Crusades happened so long AFTER the Islamic Conquest? We know the Islamic Conquest (including Spain) happened early, in the 600s and 700s. The Crusades waited until 1095, so like... ~350 years to be launched. why so long? It's not impossible, things were slower back then, but... 350~400 years is a lot to wait for payback, why not a millenium? Why was El Cid active in the 1000s and not in say the 800s. If the PTH is wrong, ok, it's wrong. Set aside PTH, but then I don't buy the official timeframe as it is.
@eljanrimsa58432 жыл бұрын
@@atticdisorder You are mixing up the reconquista and the crusades. The Umayyad conquest of Hispania was in 711, and the reconquista started with the Battle of Covadonga in 718. If you look up Spanish and Portugese history you will find no shortage of history in 700-1000. That's when the groundwork for the current country was laid in the unconquered mountains in the North, when different kingdoms found together, until they were strong enough to seriously challenge the invaders.
