Ryan, On the greasing... here's why I do it. Yes, I think we should all do it BUT it's not that it really will prevent all the dirt from getting in the car. However it's a DANG GOOD way to have an indicator tell you when dirt is getting in and how much of that dirt is getting by your air filter and into your engine. It sure did show me those paper filters are not doing what people claim they are :(

Oh and on the top filter support. You solved the main problem I have always had with them jokers. They don't tighten up. But yeah, simple and works so I agree . . . .90% approved ;)

I had a 355 with a two barrel on a Dino ones, and we put the top breather on it to see what it would do it lost horsepower, and where the diagram shows the air sucking into the carburetor instead of it being clean and straight flows it was all over the place. I never use them again. It may not do that to a four barrel. Good luck with it.

Maybe a stupid question, but why not just put a sleeve on the stem that goes into the carb? Cut the sleeve to length, put a fender washer on top and tighten to that with a nylock nut. Who cars if the filter wobbles around as long as the nut stays tight.

Great idea on the air filter top. Also grease is smart on both top and bottom. Keep any dirt or clay finding a way into the motor. Also spray filter with Klotz. Keeps dirt from coming thru also

Yes, Turn your monetization on. Here's why, KZbin is going to run commercials no matter what because they are a for profit business and that's why they do this. You are already over the threshold to be paid and you can set it up to minimize the number of commercials and you can control where and when those happen to be less annoying and that is good for viewers. Even at the size you are now it will still probably be over a $100 a month and hey that might help you do more give aways, try out some new race gear and show it on the channel, make a few more races, etc. So dude.... flip on the switch ;)

I think your air cleaner fix will work ok but the easiest remedy would have been to either weld a washer to the threaded rod so the top element could only pull down to a set amount then its tight to the rod or you could have sleeved the rod like a crush sleeve,

Not gonna lie or sugarcoat it, air cleaner mod is a hot mess. Rebar? Lol. Why not just slip a thin walled aluminum tube over your air cleaner stud, so the nut pulls tight against it? And those k&n tops are garbage IMO.

Those K&N tops are a big flow advantage but the design sucks for tightening up and sealing air out. To me the rebar is exactly what I would expect: A prototype of an idea that yes is ugly, but its cheap, fast to build, and functional. If it turns out to be a good improvement then the next version can always be made both better and more "eye appealing"

Haha i appreciate the honestly. But the problem was not the nut becoming loose, the problem was no tension being provided by the air filter top, not pushing down on the regular air filter, and to the base. There is a big advantage to the airflow through the top of the air filter, but there is trick to get it to work and actually provide more hp. I know its ugly, but if it works then im all for it.
