Thank you Vanessa. I had this very discussion with my daughter-in-law yesterday who saw the Pope's pronouncements in the very worst possible light. It's good to get this out there for people like her who may make judgements based upon insufficient evidence. No Pope has the power to change the dogmas of the Church and this is one of Her dogmas that Pope FRancis did not and cannot change.

Heretical prayer: O Mother of Perpetual Help, thou art the dispenser of all the gifts which God grants to us miserable sinners; and for this end He has made thee so powerful, so rich, and so bountiful, in order that thou mayest help us in our misery. Thou art the advocate of the most wretched and abandoned sinners who have recourse to thee: come to my aid, for I recommend myself to thee. In thy hands I place my eternal salvation, and to thee I entrust my soul. Count me among thy most devoted servants; take me under thy protection, and it is enough for me. For, if thou protect me, I fear nothing; not from my sins, because thou wilt obtain for me the pardon of them; nor from the devils, because thou art more powerful than all hell together; nor even from Jesus, my judge, because by one prayer from thee He will be appeased. But one thing I fear: that in the hour of temptation I may through negligence fail to have recourse to thee and thus perish miserably. Obtain for me, therefore, the pardon of my sins, love for Jesus, final perseverance, and the grace ever to have recourse to thee, O Mother of Perpetual Help. This is a legit Roman Catholic prayer, look up "O Mother of Perpetual Help" if you want to know if it’s legit. This is super heretical. This doctrine of invoking departed saints doesn’t seem just like "hey it’s like praying to a friend.". .

Christ welcome all to the table. Especially sinners. Anyone who reads the gospel should know this. We will all be sinners until we die, no matter how sanctified or holy we become. It's a process! We retain our free will, and the key to no longer being a hypocrite is admitting we all on, on some level. Then we can change and grown with God. This requires great self reflection nd patience.

Good explanation, thanks. One point I'd still want clarification on is: if a trans-identifying person is to be baptized, are they required to stop identifying as trans, to return to identifying with their biological pronouns, etc.? In baptism itself, the person's name is generally spoken -- does this name need to be one associated with their biological sex?
@scotthurban820011 ай бұрын
Yes. The Church teaches they must embrace their true gender, because that is what they were created as CCC 2331-2336
@Peter-GG11 ай бұрын
@@scotthurban8200 That's the answer I would've thought most consistent with Catholic doctrine as a whole. But it's odd then that in the 6 paragraphs of this document addressing "can a transsexual be baptized?", none of them come out and just say that. Maybe it's thinking of rare cases when someone clearly believes the faith but is so psychologically confused that they're still unable to grasp their sexual identity in a clear light, so the idea is that receiving the grace of baptism (and subsequent graces of the sacraments and the Christian life) may itself be necessary for them to fully recognize who they really are.

@@terrysbookandbiblereviews Christ be with you Part of coming to Christ is repentance. No one get to remain in their sin. You are supposing that they will have less mental health problems remaining where they are on absolutely no evidence. It’s amazing to me how people do that. They decide which will be more traumatic. Most of this people will never be able to change back physically. It is a matter of helping them come to terms with who they are now. If the have the help they need right from the start the would never have gone down this path. Resuming the correct gender simply means stop pretending they are something they are not. God bless you

@@MrKev1664 I am basing it on years of studying Anthropology (which I have a degree in) and knowing Trans people. Getting to know their experiences. I am basing what I said on real people and the known effects of altering body chemistry. Currently transitioning is the best MEDICAL treatment. Your last statement is good but to say to a trans person it needs to be said with a lot of care and compassion. I think both of us care about Trans people and their relationship to God and His Holy Church. I believe the Catholic Church is the true answer to their problem, because it points to the true God and Creator of the Universe. Only the Holy Trinity can truly heal anyone and He does it through the Church. Thank you for replying to what I said. God Bless you and Happy Thanksgiving.

@@terrysbookandbiblereviews Christ be with you It is not true that transitioning is the best treatment. That is a falsehood bordering on a lie. The best treatment is mental health care. Even more so today where children are being confused about there sexuality. We need to stop treating people with a mental illness with a physical solution that does not work only panders to them. We do not do it with any other mental illness. You are correct that the Catholic Church holds the answer but that answer lies in truth. God bless you

Is it Trans in name only? “Gender-affirming care” is forbidden In Catholic doctrine.
@MrKev166411 ай бұрын
Christ be with you i must say I am a bit disturbed by this and by your response. By "changing their Gender" transgender people enter into public sin. They make the sin known to others. The way I understood it they must public resume the Gender of birth so not to create a scandal. Is this what the Holy Father stated? Divorce is not a sin. It is in remarrying you become an adulterer. If you have been remarried, you must return to a celibate life. I have no problem with any sinner who has repented being baptised but we cannot live in our sin. God bless you

@MrKev1664 scripture. It's not God's intention that anyone divorce. And remarriage without a "biblical" divorce is a sin. Jesus states, “Moses permitted divorce only as a concession to your hard hearts, but it was not what God had originally intended. … whoever divorces … and marries someone else commits adultery.” God's standard, as stated by Jesus, goes beyond the law and states that God's intent is for no one to divorce.
