I bought my 1456 for just under £6, which, in Vietnam the SKMEI watches range in price from about £3-£8 which does include the guarantee. I bought the SKMEI DW-5600 homage for less then £4, and its bloody brilliant.

As a budding watch collector I did get the SKMEI metal G-Shock in both steel and gold just to scratch that metal G-Shock itch. Love them. Fast forward to today and Amazon had the real deal for $335 for like a day, snagged it before it jumped up again. Can't wait for it to arrive. I wouldn't have even ordered it if I didn't like the SKMEI ones though. BTW, I also got a SKMEI "Royale" cuz Casio doesn't make it in gold. Sometimes I question if I actually like gold variants of the Casio classics or am I also just scratching a collector's type of itch. Oh well, still happy. 😁

I hate to admit it as an owner of the Casio GMW-5000 full metal but this this isn't bad, it looks OK for the money and from a distance looks just like the Casio. Spec isn't like for like but that cost difference is crazy. I'm sure those who purchase this SKMEI will not feel the need to flush.

This was brilliant! You're the best mate! 😁 I have to admit, I'm gobsmacked. The engineers at SKMEI!!! are on another level. Designing a watch that will eject the movement a safe distance after receiving a shock preventing any further damage from continuous strikes or perhaps fire GENIUS! I just wanted to recommend an affordable Citizen reissue (of sorts) that I recently bought and love! It’s a JDM for $270 USD, the CITIZEN PROMASTER NY0125-83E. Not many review videos out there on it. The Mercedes hour hand threw me off until I saw that 70s Citizen divers had it.

I've had the Skmei for over 2 years. It's been pretty decent, quite a few fun piece. I redid the brushing on the front with finer emery paper and it looks better though obviously you have to be very careful to not go through the plating down to the zinc case. I've also got one of my fave Chinese watches, a Geeker. It's basically a 5600 clone but it's much bigger, huge but the I've got a 8.5 inch wrist so it actually looks better than my 5610. That's a great watch, I paid £7.96 in 2015 for it. It's got a proper electroluminescent display backlight

Got a skemi solar power one rubber screwed down back 5 bar does the job dual time with digital and face/ hands which is useful to time things on the go model number 1049 the solar power does work when you take battery out it charges digital and hands in direct sunlight or day light so v useful it is very tough and last for years the bracelet is tough but flexible and will last unlike metal ones with dodgy clasps.

Hilarious video! Makes you wonder how a gshock would deal with a full on swipe from a 9-iron! I think Casio did a commercial a few years ago with a gshock getting a good old wallop from an ice hockey stick. Maybe a better alternative for those craving a full metal jacket, but a little more expensive than the SKMEI, would be to buy the cheapest model (5600?) and then get one of those stainless steel bracelet kits from aliexpress. I bought one for about 30 quid and it really is good quality.

An update, whilst rummaging through boxes of broken watches I found a Casio tide watch from my days of surf fishing. Think the last time I used it was 20 years ago and the bloody thing is still working 😵. It’s scratched to hell so I’ll do a bit of restoration and fit a new strap and you can have if you want 👍

Check out their 1358 model. After you figure out how to operate it it’s a fantastic watch and you get past the funny name really quick for under nine dollars this thing has barometer altimeter step counter two time zones a compass, calorie and step counter, chronometer, and a countdown timer. I’m used to mechanical wrist watches so this was a learning curve. But after I figured everything out this is one of my favorite watches and I’ve got quite a few good ones.

Hi Russ! Well SKMEI is a good brand for value-for-money watches and the water resistance holds up well during monsoons or light swimming. Other than that, the shock resistance is a Casio Legacy and obviously no one is better equipped than Casio for that task. 😊 yet SKMEI are doing a decent job at mid range watches

very cool video! Surprised it survived, lol! Maybe in real life the brushing on the bezel looks better, but it comes across horribly on camera. I can understand why people buy it though, the full metal Casio is a looker. Luckily, I live in Brazil and Orient are kind enough to offer through a sub brand called X Games their own interpretation of the Casio. They add a few tweaks to the design making it not a straight up copy, but there is no denying it's a homage. For about forty USD you get a fully stainless steel watch and the looks. Much better finishing than the Skmei, can't get over how horrid the brushing looks on the Skmei. Of course not perfect the Orient, I mean X Games, the module is very simple, offering F91w-like functions, folded link bracelet, but it does have the look, fully articulated first link, making it fit even smaller wrists, electroluminescent backlight and 100m of water resistance. Great show, thanks!

I think it would have only been fair for you to whack the gshock with the golf club too so a comparison could be made . I know the schmei sort of passed the test but would the Casio have faired the same or better? . Not that I’m doubting how tough the Casio is since I own the resin version and have ran it over and reversed over and parked on ,then turned the wheel on in a big JCB telehandler to prove to my work mate that it is indestructible . The watch is fine just suffered some scrapes on the bezel and case back.

Wouldn't buy the skmee G off the bat bought a Skmee Royal as all the paint had rubbed off my AE-1200 and thought might use it as spares but the cases aren't compatible! Bought a black Skmee Royale as it was only £8.99 new with tags on ebayas the black AE-1200s are at a premium right now and aren't available with a black metal bracelet. Top video my good man! 😁👌

I remember the very early casios having a special button press to show 'casio' in the display to prove they weren't fakes. Do they still have that function ? and what happens if you do the same to the SKMEI ? Strange name SKMEI ..if there was another S and rearranged it would spell KISS ME ! Your videos are great !

Modern G Shocks have a module test mode, activated by pressing a certain button combination, that proves them to be the real thing.

The chinese name of SKMEI is actually 时刻美 which is actually pronounced as Shi Ke MEI, which gotten shorten to SKMEI. In chinese the name actually means beautiful time moments? beautiful time intervals? or something like that. They were certainly meant for domestic market and never thought how queer the name would sound for international audiences.

It would have been better to put the Chinese characters on the watch. I think a lot of consumers, like myself, are completely disgusted by that stupid name. I have seen a test of this model years ago from a Canadian KZbinr , who put this watch outside in snow and ice for the night and put it on a fishing line and gave it a very, very cold bath. The watch survived both, knowing it got very, very, very cold in Canada at night, during the waterproof test as well. I must respect this watch. It was offered to me at the last 11.11 Sale for just 15 Euro. 😮

I find it interesting that with a tiny effort Skmei could have done it right...like using screws on that back-plate and increasing the water resistance to at least 5 Bar. I have a Cas.Roy. copy and it has a screwed-on back and a 5 Bar w.r....but sadly no metal case.

Always loved Casio, but part of it was the honest price. Nowadays most Casio models are around 40-50€ on Amazon, and for a cheap plastic watch that will scratch instantly and whose lugs will break off quite easily, the price starts being a bit unreasonable. Skmei offering an almost identical product at a fraction of the price and with a metal case starts making more and more sense.

This is definitely not for me but I can see why someone would buy one of these. Get the looks (sort of) for 17 times less than the real deal.
