The Khalifa Umar R.A had so much Adab while Abu Bakr R.A was alive, but upon his passing, may peace be upon him, Umar had a mind of his own, which was to be expected. Ali R.A also indicated that he'd have a mind of his own after Umar passed, but the consensus chose Uthman R.A to be next because he promised that he would remain on Umar's example (only to have a mind of his own as well, he was being politically correct lol). So after the prophet pbuh, 7 or 9 scholars within a sea of Sahaba, by the 2nd genetation there were 11 madhabs, and by the end of the 3rd generation there remained 4 madhabs, maybe 5 tops (Zahirite madhab). I have so many questions...

Jizak Allahu khayran. The 4 imams are the legal schools of jurisprudence in AHLUL SUNNAH WAL JAMA'AH Tradition. Therefore we cannot forsaken them or abandoned them. It been a mainstream etiquettes to follow and practice Islam through (following) a well trusted Scholars of Islam. This Fitna of madhhab confusion has also afflicted in Contemporal Salafism. I'm an Athari in school of theology but I'm not really ascribe myself to Contemporal Salafism because of such issues I've witnessed.

No one abandons the four madhahib. Some misguided Salafi claim to work outside them, but they are really Hanbalis and just don’t know it. Even Sheikh Fawzan says to study a madhhab.

Some do, some don’t. The vast majority of salafis do not do taqleed of the madhabs.

@@aformula4198 You should be advising any Salafis who say that following a madhhab is kufr to fear Allaah, but I’ll take the advice as we should all fear Allaah. An anonymous writer published a pamphlet saying anyone following a madhhab , quoting a scholar named Khajnadi (I believe that’s his name). A scholar did try to argue that he meant anyone who was able to derive the daleel himself but still followed a madhhab was committing kufr, even though the Arabic doesn’t allow for such an interpretation.

By the way, I am not salafi, I follow the maliki Madhab. It's dangerous to spread things that are not true.

Salam, I have a question, if the people who were in Kufa had gained knowledge of Hadith would it be then more appropriate for them to follow that instead of relying more on reason? Was the madhhab of the people of Kufa only to be out of necessity and the lack of access to knowledge?

@hamza - Kufa was built by Umar (ra) to help the Northern ppls (Persia /Asia) learn knowledge of Islam so they don't need to travel to Hijaz because it was far from them. Kufa was closer. About 1500 sahaba resided in Kufa. 70-80 of these were Badri sahabis (fought in the Battle of Badr). The Fiqh of Kufa was based mainly on Ibn Masud (ra) (d33H) then later on Ali (ra) when he made Kufa the Capitol of his Khilafah. Ali (ra) praised ibn Masud's soul for preparing such great ulama in Kufa who were spreading Islamic ilm/ knowledge Aswad & Alqama were two of ibn Masud's greatest students whose character was such that when ppl saw them they were reminded of ibn Masud. Both also learned from Ali (ra). Ibrahim alNakhai (tabi) learned from them & defended the Fatwas of Ali & ibn Masud (raa). Hammad ibn abi Sulaiman (tabi) learned from him and in his own lifetime, he authorised Imam Abu Hanifa (tabi) his deputy to give Fatwas. The usul/Principles of this School of Thought / Madhab of Kufa is based on the Fatwas of Umar, Ali & ibn Masud (raa) which was popularised by Imam Abu Hanifah & his students.

@@hamzahazmi4505 - The label of "ahl ar-ra'y" was actually a slander against the Scholars of Kufa by the Literalist Muhaddiths who labelled themselves as "ahl al hadith". Imam AbuHanifah became the Leader of the Scholars of Kufa so he became their main target. This misunderstanding happened because Imam Abu Hanifah and his Committee of 40 of his greatest students, being experts in various fields, would constantly discuss real & hypothetical situations to find answers from Qur'an and Sunnah. They would look at a single Hadith and derive dozens of rulings from it using various techniques. Once they agreed on a matter, they would write it down and these Rulings /Fatwas were the first to be Codified in books of Fiqh. The ahl al hadith Scholars were against any sort of interpretation or analysis of any ahadith. They would look at a hadith and only derive the obvious, literal ruling from it. Anything else they regarded as "opinion" / ra'y. This is why the Mujtahid Faqih is greater & has better understanding than a Muhaddith.

Ibn hazm mentioned that "every shahabi that met the prophet was able to give fatwas to his family, neighbors and friends. Then hazm mentioned that this is something that is known by neccesity. The hadith he mentioned about "if you dont find the answer in the quran then look in my sunnah, if you dont find it there then use qiyas" this hadith is weak! Bukhari declared it invalid. No shahabi took the opinion of another sahabi unless they were convinced that the other opinion was more correct. Blind following is only allowed in the case of a NECCESITY! what is obligatory upon every muslim that is able to study is to perform "al- itibah" (conformity of evidence.) study and go with the opinion that you think are most correct. stay away from blind following.

What you Wahhabi /Najdi / Salafis call "Blind Following" is actually the following of the Sahaba as Codified by the 4 Schools of Fiqh /Madhabs. Hanafi Fiqh is based upon the teachings /rulings of Umar, ibn Masud & Ali (raa) and the 1500 sahaba who lived & taught in Kufa. Maliki Fiqh is mainly based on the sayings /rulings of ibn Umar & other Companions living in Madinah as well as the amal/practice of that city.

The first three generations didn’t use madhahib and they weren’t commanded to make taqleed to anyone other than the Prophet ﷺ. You cannot make taqleed to a madhhab wajib!!!

Allah has clearly stated in the Holy Qur'an the essential things required of a Muslim. we need to Stick to Allah s Words which cannot be changed because these Holy Words are being preserved By Allah SWT himself.

@Airhawker4 first of all, you can get fiqh from scholars and evidence. Secondly FOLLOWING a madhhab isn’t the same as TAQLEED. Does your fiqh disappear simply because you took a ruling outside your madhhab? No offense, but you sound brainwashed into thinking there is no fiqh without a madhhab. Where did Ibn Masud get his fiqh from? Did Abu Hanifa not have fiqh? Think about this.

No it isnt a madhab because you are taking knowledge from appointed governers by the calipha from the best generation , the rashidun. According to this guy , if you take knowledge from someone that means you are part of a madhab, then there must be millions of madhabs in the world . Where did any sahabah RA even mention the word madhab? Where did rasool allah alayhi salaam mention the word madhab, which one of them said i am a school of thought, they all followed the manhaj an nabuwa, also the four imaams here didnt even say i have a madhhab, also they can not be compared to the sahabah , and especially to ones promised jannah and those who fought in badr and uhud . Yes we take the knowledge from the first 3 generations , but one can gain jannah without even reading a single one of their books, lets say im sacrificed fighting kuffar tommorow, i wasnt in a madhab, i didnt even read a book from any of the four imaams, will i not go to jannah ? Madhabs are splitting the ummah , madhabs such as maliki and hanafi and hanbali and shafiee, are all littered abd infested wuth shirk and bida’ah , you think the mahdi will be part of a madhab ? No, quran and sunnah upon thr manhaj and nabuwa , rather it will be dajjal calling to madhabs and these ahlul bidah and ahlul shirk will he supporting dajjal and already are , directly or indirectly. The devil is pleased with the sufis and these madhabs, as they disunite and make weak islam, nothing this man has said in this video is solid evidence to support madhabs , nothing. Hes just mentioning thing and putting his spin on it to supoort his desires and agenda of the sufism cult . Those not in madhabs will find that they can learn knowledge from all the best scholars, through the hidayah of Allah ta’ala, and tawfeeq of Allah ta’ala. Its Allah ta’ala that guides the slave, there is no need for any madhab, they are an evil thing. And whennthe mahdi comes , he will be a calipha upon the manhaj an nabuwa , meaning the methodology of Nabi mohammed alayhi salaam . So may Allah ta’ala curse these ahlul dajjal sufis and their false live and smiles and nice clothes . They dance and celebrate in mosques and houses whilst sisters and brothers, olders and babys are raped murdered and killed in rhe middle east, africa and asia. You think a devil ebemy of Allah ta’ala will fear a sufi ? He will rape your mother and eat your child, and these guys will still be dancing and prancing around like fairys . May Allah ta’ala curse you and your fake followers and protect this ummah and its weak, poor, needy, widows, orphans, imprisoned , persecuted and oppressed. The rise of the caliphate will come , and uqsim billah the sufis and the shiahs will be slaughtered in mass Insh’Allah. Four your abandonment of this ummah . Lanah tullah upon all of you
