I don't think the selectors "tricked" Shamar. However, they should have known better that it was wishful thinking to expect Shamar to perform the same way as he did in the test. Test to T20 is too drastic of a change for a person in the budding stage of his career. Excellence in 1 test match is an indicator of potential, not actualization. He needed time to hone his skills; it wasn't time to be thrust into a new format that is punishing for an amateur. Shamar needs someone in his corner to shift these demands and help him make sensible decisions about his career. The selectors saw something that glittered and took it for gold to be sold on the open market when he's a diamond in the mine that needs careful extraction and lots of polishing before his true luster can be seen.

I see one flaw in Sammy's coaching. While he has articulated the role philosophy well, and I subscribe to that stance, what is missing is the notion of horses for courses. Every game should be treated as a new challenge, and the best team isn't necessarily the last team that won but the team with the best players based on the conditions and circumstances of the new game. There is a reason why the entire squad is 15 and not 11.

I'm happy you've raised this issue of Shamar's management. Sammy said the team would not be selected on hype, then after a disastrous IPL over, he succumbed to the very hype he vowed not to. SJ was described as an X factor, whose role would be to bowl in the PP. Once he was included in the squad, he deserved a full opportunity to gain experience before being thrust into a WC. Instead, all sorts of people who were not in the squad bowled in the warm ups while SJ only bowled a full quota in 1 out of the 4 games. This was baffling. Now that 2 of our experienced pacers have failed miserably, except for when Alzarri flattered to deceive against NZ, and we are in a must-win situation, surely it would be unfair to heap pressure on the youngster to spare our blushes. I'm not saying he shouldn't make the final 11, but better management is needed than what we've seen.

All I would say is the Selectors di not have the interest of WI at heart and Sammy is no Coach. As far as I am concerned he is a distraction to the Captain, iver after over being on the sidelines giving what may be deemed advice. If Powell cannot think for himself as Captain he should not be in that appointment.

Sammy and Powell already have their playing 11 , it doesn’t matter what happen they are sticking with who they want and not who they think can win games . A man like Hetmyer who play against world class bowlers in ipl is being rested even when they are players performing poorly . How can you win a World Cup when u put you emotion and selfish thinking first . Who is more calm than Hope and Hope is on bench . Shepherd can’t bowl in depth over they still push him all that is madness . Yal cause yal own down fall . If was me I will drop Charles, Shepherd , Alazarri bring in Hope Mcoy and Hetmyer if is a case where king is still injured I will put Hope and Hetymer to open n bring in Shamar so 3 or 4 changes needed

T20I cricket is a different kettle of fish than Test cricket. The coaches, and their onfield general, the captain have to make quickfire decisions on bowling changes without the luxury of time that Test cricket allows. If a bowler is hemorrhaging runs in T20I cricket, he will most likely be cast aside without given an opportunity to bowl later in the match. In Test cricket; however, struggling bowlers are usually brought back for subsequent spells in the same Test match where they can right their earlier wrongs. Hopefully Joseph is not nursing an unannounced injury.

I am totally disgusted with him should play in the T20 wc championship, he is not ready for this big occasion.Shamar Joseph is not a T20 bowler, he is lacking expertise how to bowled into those games is different from test cricket.I don't know how old you are about the cricket, because in 1971 when the odi came in.There was a lot of test batsmen couldn't make the odi squad, because it is too fast for them and. T20 is much faster and. Shamar Joseph is not a t20 bowler. He shouldnt have been selected in the first place. T20n cricket and Test cricket are 2 differnet formats. Him performing in 2 tests in Austalia means nothing. Is Dwayne Bravo not one of the best t20 bowlers?? Yes, just ask Afganistan why them select him for bowling coach. Is Dwayne Bravo a good test bowler? No. Its a different format. Joseph need to play red ball cricket that style of bowling is not for t20 my friend.

Who cares about T20 4 overs crap ....Hossain is a disaster in 4 day championship for Trinidad...I don't think they would pick him for Super 50 either Carry Pierre and the young Indian leg spinner would be there along with Charles......Dwane Bravo made some centuries in 2023 4 day Championship as captain of Trinidad and he hardly bowl ..but made some vital brake through when he did ....he gentle medium pace and could be slaughtered in ODI and long formats
