I think mixing in a little bluegrass might help since bluegrass tends to be some of the darkest green grass. That's just my opinion though. Dr. Shaddox does show in scientific papers that many of the products don't do much. Might be worth seeing if pushing a little more nitrogen might help. Also PGR like Primo Maxx might help as well and definitely darkens the grass. I applied more products to my front lawn this year than the back and I think the back ultimately did better. Going to try a less is more approach this year and see what happens.

When I sprayed Green Charge 26-0-0 I would notice my grass looking slightly gloss and shiny. I hadn’t used it last season, grass still looks good but doesn’t pop as much.

Great video! I believe the bio stimulants work myself. Since last September during and after my first time seeding I used a lot of rgs humic and seak. Micro green in the summer months. I believe that’s how I survived my first summer and a lot of watering of course.

Just my opinion, I think yard mastery and Allen Hayne have great products and he’s extremely knowledgeable, his double dark granular was the best fertilizer I’ve used, crazy dark and healthy, people always gotta knock others saying they are just trying to make money, but arnt we all…thanks for putting out winter content!!! 🎉

Thanks for the comment Adam! Yes, you will unfortunately, and most of us just want to know what works and what isn't gonna work. I appreciate your thoughts.

Yes bios help a lot. I was in your position 2 years ago. Definitely makes a huge difference. Rgs and air8 mix every 2 months with 007 iron separate works awesome.

I love having both warm and cool season grasses in my lawn. TTTF looks it's best in my lawn from March - June. About the only month I'm not doing anything in the lawn is Jan, but once Feb rolls in I'll be doing pre-emergent for Poa etc. Like you, I get asked by random neighbors how to make their lawn look better but they rarely ever take my advice to do a soil test. As for Bio stimulants the ones I've had the most success with is RGS, Microgreene and some of Pete's own formulas (5-0-5/Cal Tide). I plan on using Sea-K this year as well. I also can't tell you how much better it is to upgrade a lawn spreader because it makes a MASSIVE difference over those junk Scott's spreaders from the big box store. Hope you're having a great New Years!

One of my favorite KZbin channels is Turfgrass Epistemology with Dr Travis Shaddox he goes over clinical studies and gives his input a popular subject with him is iron and how effective it is in both granular and foliar applications. One thing he stresses is bang for buck if using amendments gives you a certain rating vs not using the amendments how much of a difference it makes for the sided cost

Yes!! I think doing a couple test areas with some bio stimulants to see if it has an effect. I’ve been seeing a lot about sea kelp helping with drought as an additive to hydrotain. 🤷🏻♂️ who knows Something to look forward too. We are covered in snow in Michigan. 😂

As someone mentioned, Dr Shaddox goes over this in a lot of his videos and basically says that you only see response from nitrogen and liquid iron unless you are severely low on something. One big thing I learned from him is how too much potassium can actually cause disease. Did you see the video that he did about your soil test video? He gives some really good constructive critisim in that video. He can be harsh sometimes toward some youtubers, but I don’t remember him being that harsh on you. I actually tried sending it to you on insta when i first saw it. Free soil scientist review of your soil test!

I think I know the video you are referring to, and if so, yes...he wasn't hard on me, but more the type of test I used. Thanks Curtis!

Hey Mr. FERGUSON since you don't want to disturb the soil you should throw a little peat moss over your seed for some protection of birds.

What I've learned is to save money and mainly focus on nitrogen unless there is visible signs of deficiency and liquid aeration is nothing but marketing.
@MrFergusonLawn22 күн бұрын
That I have to say, I agree with as well. I just don't think liquid aeration is a real thing. At least not in a way that is impactful or helpful to residential homeowners.
@spencetomlinson883220 күн бұрын
I can’t speak to liquid aeration doing any appreciable aerating, but when I apply Air-8 to my lawn it greens up every time. It isn’t K deficient either. But I agree, if it’s well fed with N it looks good

Nitrogen, some liquid iron and you're good. I don't believe anything else is going to provide a noticable turf response knowing your soil has no deficiencies. Have a happy and green new year!

Trust the data, not the people including myself. There are research studies that have scientifically isolated and evaluated at the impacts of Bio-stims. In general, the amounts that are applied per application are not enough for a response in the plant nor the best bang for your bucks. NPK and some liquid iron if you want a pop will typically do the job. Couple studies have shown response to sea kelp in special situations. As far as comparing your newly seeded lawn to your current lawn, brand new seeded grass does have a "new car" shine to it. But it sometimes also lacks the depth of color that you get with mature grass. Thats has been my experience with my seeding jobs, new seedings do have special look to them. Have a good one!
@MrFergusonLawn22 күн бұрын
That's true Cam. Newly seeded grass does have that new grass shine, great point. I appreciate your comments and thoughts my friend. Be blessed!
