A portable sewing machine with a metal head is much more valuable than one with a plastic head. Great find! Also, the “Thieves” carrier is from a mail-order company with all natural products. The carrier is typically used for storing their cleaning supplies. I would suggest painting the bottom rim, inside and outside, with a clear sealant to deter rusting. Clear nail polish works well for this. God bless the Archbold family! 🙏♥️

@@markstevens1729 I wonder how they pay the labor costs...maintenance costs...the light bill...the rent...new fixtures...trash pick up...cash register tape...and more...without profit. If they can, that would be some cute trick! And regardless of who owns Value Village, they buy goods from other thrift stores, thereby helping them to make a profit to pay for all of those things. That said, if you would still like to choose pedantry over common sense, "not for profit" is a principle of tax law, not of profitability. It means that they don't pay taxes on their profits as long as the profits are used according to the tax laws under which they operate. I hope this helps.

@@GuyWithTheDogs doesn’t help at all, as everything you mention is part of pre-tax, pre-profit expenses for any organization whether for profit or not. If the proceeds go back into the community, and the organization does not keep any as a profit, the non-profit label applies. If you are taking all the net proceeds and distributing them between shareholders in the equity fund, that is a for-profit organization. There is a large difference between Wall Street and the Women’s Auxillary. I’m sure more people would like to be helping the Women’s Auxiliary over some professional investor.

Yeah, I know, the term "collectible" is supposed to indicate some inherent value based on age, but, being a "wordie", I will again say, anything is collectible. My little box of whimsical hair clips from my childhood is collectible, both the box itself and the individual hair clips because neither are being manufactured any more (meaning those exact items) and because they are all over 70 years old and in pristine condition.
