I’m Catholic so I identified the symbol on the table right away. It’s a symbol from the early third century. The Catholic symbol PX is the Chi-Rho monogram, which is made up of the first two letters of Christ's name in Greek, chi (X) and rho (P). The letters are often written one above the other and sometimes inside a circle. ❤️

Hey, Laura. The silk shirt is actually from Indonesia. It's a batik shirt and from a batik shop called "Batik Sutra Putih" in Bangunharjo, Semarang City, Central Java. I live in Central Java and used to shop there when I needed a batik shirt for a formal event. I'm glad you didn't get that because even though it looks cool, it's not vintage and quite cheap.

I am by no means a great potter, but I have thrown some pots and have had college level instruction in pottery throwing. A heavy pot, especially if it's heavy on the bottom, is an indication of a novice, unskilled, or not very good potter. The skill in pottery throwing is to be able to draw up the walls of the pot and keep them and the bottom thin (but not too thin) and even. Also, all potters, novice and professional alike, are taught to sign their pottery, A signature on a pot is not necessarily an indication of a professional pottery piece or a well-known artist.

You both are so much fun to watch, especially together. And you have such good taste in what you choose. My late husband and I used to antique/thrift store shop together - we had so much fun, such good memories..,
@loribragg29473 ай бұрын
You two remind me of me and my fiancé when we go thrifting-I pick stuff up that he thinks is ugly and then flip it for 20x what I paid for it. 😂 He’s learned to trust my instincts now. He has better eyesight than I do, so I hand him the stuff I want and tell him to ‘go Spock’ on it. If there’s even a minuscule flaw, he’ll find it. Here in Florida the Goodwill stores carry very little vintage or antique items. It seems they mostly carry outlet retail items. It’s very difficult to sell vintage or antique items in Florida on Marketplace unless you practically give it away. There is just too much stuff! I just bought an absolutely gorgeous Duncan Phyfe/American Empire sofa from the 1800s for only $175 from an antique store. It’s Egyptian Revival with gorgeous hand-carved feet and carved rope detailing on the top of the back. These go for $2500 to $4000 online. There is just too much vintage/antique items out there and Floridians prefer to decorate in a coastal beach style with modern furniture. Maybe you should come to Florida for a thrifting adventure? Bring a couple of vans; you’ll need them. 😂

In the late 90s I finally caved to the Tex-Mex style and painted my living room walls orange LOL It was so overwhelming I couldn't go in there for 3 days! Looked amazing with all my then 'global nomad' batiks/masks/tiki stuff but... that was the day I realised, neutrals and pastels are my vibe. 😆 Now I stick to 70s/80s organic/natural/boho.

You found artist-made fused stained glass sushi plates. That glass isn’t expensive as stained glass goes. The artist would have had to purchase a mold and coat it with a release medium. The glass would be cut to fit the mold and then placed in a kiln for probably eight hours.
