The coolest thing about doing all this work yourself (well beyond the cost savings) is how much more you know your engines than if someone else had done it. You’re that much better prepared if something goes wrong way offshore. Each of these small trails/hiccups benefit you tremendously (in priceless knowledge). How can those smooth purring blue kittens (your babies that you brought to life yourself) not put a smile on your face? Congratulations!

Nailed it! That’s exactly what we wanted out of this project. Engines that would let us service them anywhere on our own, using the knowledge we have gained in the process of fitting them. Far from experts, we still have plenty to figure out but at least we get a head start having done the full install ourselves. We are still pinching ourselves to be honest. Totally wild!

Cheers! It’s funny, because we haven’t had a working engine in so long, we actually had two full tanks to the brim. Given diesel bug generally forms in the condensation at the top of the tank, we are hoping that it hasn’t managed to take hold. That said, we will keep a close eye on the raycore filters and hopefully catch anything before it becomes a problem.

Hi Guys, One thing to add, because you reversed your gearbox you will most likely have another gearratio in reverse and therefor less efficient. please check. you might consider 2 new propellers later on (fold-able) with the right sense of rotation. Also check if it ratio is not to low in reverse because you might overload your engine. If the ratio is too high you just make a lot of revs and get het required speed (inefficient) Regards, Rolf Hendriksma sy Rajac

And you chose to do it in the most challenging way possible, while still floating. At least you had a dock that a forklift could drive on. Hi! Thanks for checking out the channel. It’s been a wild ride for Red Seas and the engine story has only been the most recent of our adventures. If it’s sailing, culture, discovery and plenty of mishaps that you are after, there’s been around 120 episodes of just that. The good news is, now that we have our engines installed, we are back out into the blue and chasing down the horizon once more….where we are most comfortable. 😀

That is a crap coolant system design, fit a bango fitting to that nut you removed with a hose to go back to the coolant tank.

That’s an interesting idea. Why not simply rely on the buffer tank to take up the slack. Admittedly it’s a bit challenging having to use the bleed bolt as the filling point so perhaps fitting the buffer tank there would be easier to refill

The Cummins QSB has 3 locations where they fit a pipe to drain an area where air can be caught, this air becomes super heated and over pressures the cooling system.

Am i the only one wondering why one of your brand new engines just made a funny noise and shut down? I can't believe that no one seems to be the least bit concerned about it. Sometimes I wonder about this channel Everyone is so happy and celebrating the new engines. Yet, one of your brand new engines just shut down for unknown reasons. SMH

😜 I mean that is kind of the point of the title and thumbnail 😂 We were totally worried about it and that’s why we were all over it and discussing with Nanni Australia to confirm the causes etc. thankfully we got to the bottom of it. As for the smiles and excitement, if you had been on the rollercoaster we’ve been on for the last 12 months, you’d be just as excited at the simple prospect of having two shiny engines in the boat 😂

I like you two, but this video seemed like both clickbait and a cliffhanger and honestly I don't enjoy either in YT videos. Just my opinion obviously, but it makes me less inclined to watch future videos.

Hi jim, sorry to hear that. We try really hard to avoid clickbait while still generating interest in our story from those that know us and those who only just discovered us. The last episode ended on a cliff hanger as, quite honestly, we couldn’t fit the full story of plumbing the engines and getting them running and getting out to anchor in a single episode. This episode doesn’t really end of a cliffhanger I don’t think. It’s more of a success story about our finally leaving the marina. The concern over what damage we may have caused (twice) during this episode was very real indeed so the title is indicative of that. Please remember that we have no idea what we are doing so everything you see is pretty raw and accurate to how we experienced it. I hope that you can take our track record into account before choosing to move on from our Red Seas adventure but of course, we can’t be to everyone’s tastes. We can only be ourselves 😜 Appreciate your honesty and input. 😀

@@RedSeas I'll keep watching. I don't know why I was feeling so crabby, but sorry for that. I know you're just trying to get your videos noticed and watched and that's fair.

Hey it’s all good. It’s a thin line on KZbin to keep things fun while keeping the algorithm happy to show the video to people. We don’t really bother with titles on patreon so that people don’t have to deal with that stuff but once it goes on KZbin, it’s kind of our chance to reach people who have never heard of us too. At least we both keep our clothes on most of the time so you don’t have to see a butt naked sweaty dude trying to repair some mechanics with a spoon 😂 🤮
