Lets add our own fan lore as well and say she saw him in the wasteland scene and that prompted her to tell him hes almost here when she gets "banished" im not convinced these gods will stay gone. Two terrific on screen castings so far in Neil Patrick Harris and Jinx Monsoon it would be a waste to never see them again. Also i dont see many people mentioning how Sutekhs way back to us is one big giant trap...built for the doctor...perhaps it wasnt just Sutekh who had been set free into our reality. The speech starts at 3 and the final line drops around 7 minutes after therefore i back you that Mrs Flood does happen after Sutekh is back which would explain a darkening sky we see after but not in following shots perhaps during the Mel and Doctor scene we know we're getting that is when the sky is being took over by sand and darkness well...Sutekhs Gift Of Death. Perhaps time lord hints at Mrs Flood are red herrings or still concurrant with the narrative. One things for certain Congrats Russel T Davies i think you may have actually topped your Bad Wolf arc with how good this one has us questioning. Sutekhs been hinted by various things all season and as he makes great point of in this video the season 1 marketing lookin like the Sutekh time corridor. The clues this season are everywhere now that we know who the one who waits is...from Newton saying "What the Devil" when he sees the Tardis to the Beatles singing "My dog is alive, he's not dead". 🙂 Not to mention all the references and images of triangles and Triad. "Because of salt", from what I see, was really just the explanation for The Celestial Toymaker's return. His game-like influence in the universe allowed these fantasy elements such as goblins with flying ships into the universe. The Toymaker himself even hinted at changing continuity himself when he told the Doctor he made a jigsaw out of his history. As for Sutekh, he would not have required any salt. Sutekh already originated from our universe, unlike the Toymaker and Maestro. I'm pretty sure they weaved themselves into the Pantheon when they arrived in the universe.

He appeared in only one episode of classic who, which is now easily accesible to people in the uk - the even do Tales of the TARDIS with it - and they contradict most of what sutekh is there. Weird choice, Russell. Sutekh just isn't a god-like entity like Toymaker is - and definitely not above them - which again, was set up in Pyramids. Russell could have chosen an entity well established in the lore which would work for this, like Fenric, Black Guardian or even The Beast (which Carla acknowleges here anyway and is voiced by Gabriel Woolf too and I genuinely thought it was him the entire time from the dialogue). I have since done my homework but at the time of the reveal, I was caught off guard by there suddenly being a literal god among the (thus far, to me) generic gods of the pantheon. Fortunately I’m familiar enough with the experience of not knowing what’s going on in Who to go look it up, but it did make me wonder why this was the go-to for a soft reboot for newcomers who might know to do that, which brought me out even more. I’m still super excited for the rest of finale it just seemed paced weirdly. I think I would have liked it better if had dropped the way the first two episodes of the season had dropped. I'd be interested about what they do about Sutekh in the finale. In Pyramids of Mars, the Doctor says Sutekh is the most powerful being he's ever faced, and he's only able to beat him because Sutekh spends basically the whole story paralysed. The whole story is about stopping Sutekh from getting himself free, because the Doctor says, once he's free, there's nothing he can do, Sutekh's already won the moment he's free. And this time around, Sutekh starts off free, has been for a while, and the Doctor had no idea. It would also be nice for there to be an explanation about how he managed to survive the Doctor killing him I also agree about his new CGI look. It's like they've just gone "we have a big budget now, we can do CGI instead of just a man in a mask and a suit", except it's *bad* CGI which makes it look so fake, whereas the man in a suit did at least look real Also, since the TARDIS first made that noise in Wild Blue Yonder *before* the salt scene, I doubt that would be an explanation for Sutekh attaching himself to the TARDIS. I swear, if this is all down to Donna spilling coffee on the console, then I ask again, if coffee deals THAT much damage to the console, WHY would it put a coffee machine on the console!!! Why not have food and drink dispensers in a separate room/corner like Hartnell's TARDIS. (Also, I think we know which way Russell T leans in the tea/coffee debate)

I'm a bit afraid the Susan and the Mrs. Flood mysteries will not be resolved, but I am sure both will come back early next season. Or are they the SAME mystery? The final episode was good...until the last 10 minutes! . . Spoilers... . . . Giving Ruby a happy ending was nice and all, but it was too much. I honestly thought she would go in, share a moment with her birth mom, where she doesn't recognize her but is still being friendly. Remember this woman gave Ruby up for adoption, NEVER tried to find her and also NEVER told the father she existed! And yet we're supposed to like her? Having her birth mom just be some random human woman, yet Ruby's secret origin was so important it defied death itself, that leaves me with a lot of questions: - Why was her secret more important than everyone else's in the universe? In all of time and space? - Why does she have this magical memory power where she can conjure up snow from the night she was born? - Why did the time window not work if her mom was just some random human woman? - What was the point of the 73 yards reference? And that woman? Why did she scare everyone away? Why even reference it? Speaking of which how is Roger ap Gwilliam still the scariest Prime Minister in history, considering the Master was a Prime Minister! I really hope Ruby's dad is someone of importance, maybe Ruby got her magical memory power from him. Maybe he is a timelord. Maybe he is the Master. Other random questions: - The Doctor makes a big deal that he has to kill someone? How many times has he done that? Heck he tried to do that already with Sutekh when he was the 5th Doctor! - Where was 14 and Donna during all of this? Is 14 THAT lazy he won't help out UNIT while staying with the Nobles? - When the TARDIS was duplicated in "The Giggle", did Sutekh also get duplicated? Is a version of him hanging around 14's TARDIS? - Think leaving Sutekh in the time vortex brought back everyone destroyed in the Flux? Maybe the timelords too? - With a whole bunch of Susan Triads and Clara Oswald variants flooding the time stream, how long until they meet? - Speaking of Floods, who is Mrs. Flood? Is she another regeneration of the Master/Missy, maybe the Missus? Sheesh, after 60 years of stories, I could understand why Tecteun would want to start over in another universe, because this one is way to mucked up (honestly, when 15 split from 14 that's where he should have went).

But alas I’ll forgive them for it as although the end of 73 Yards does establish that Ruby has some recollection of the events of it like you said, it is still a very faint echo in her memory so it’s unlikely Kate appears in it at all I was also really bracing myself for Rose to say that Wilf had passed away for real after her & The Doctor hugged (cos ya know they can’t keep making out he/Bernard Cribbins is alive offscreen forever), but I’m guessing since she didn’t they’re maybe saving that for Donna to say if & when she comes back

An interesting note is that someone did the math based on the actual real life site, and Ruby's mother is stood exactly 73 yards away from baby Ruby, just as the CCTV camera is a little over 66m away, or... 73 yards away. It's subtle, but possibly intentional.

Mostly indifferent to the episode due to so far not really connecting with any of the mystery boxes, however it's entertaining thanks to the likeable cast. I'm prepared to give the finale a chance however with the return of Sutekh and possibly Susan or worryingly Tennant, what they do in the episode is more important than simply just being there for fan service.

We discover Susan Triad is due to make a worldwide tech billionaire announcement at 3 pm (which always goes very badly) but rather than concentrating on that problem we take the time to worry about our second (Ruby) mystery, which one would expect to be completely unrelated. Surely, that should have waited until after 3 pm at least. Of course, it turns out to be tightly related... but now they've got 2 crises going on at once. While I was watching, it distracted me that they were trying to do two things at once rather than focus on one thing at a time.

7:22 The second time isn't even the 8th doctor technically. It's the war doctor constantly regenerating and degenerating between 4 and 8 with a little bit of the modern doctors up to 12 sprinkled in for good measure. Once and Future is weird but its such a good fanservicy story.

Prediction: as Susan Triad is not Susan Foreman, if Mrs Flood also turns out to not be Susan, then the season will end, once the Sutekh story has been resolved, with a quiet little denouement of the Doctor going back to see her as an old woman still played by Carole Ann Ford, and it'll hit harder than anything else in the episode. Otherwise, it will be the whole premise of the Christmas Special. It would be wasteful, and very unlike RTD, to bring all of that up and then do nothing with it.

From previous experiences I have 3 predictions fot the next episode and I hope RTS proves me wrong and surprises me. 1. The episode will be all about spectacle and raising the steaks and the ending will be an anticlimax relying on a deus ex machine 2 Ruby will turn out to have some special powers due to her parentage which save the dat at the last moment like Bad Wolf and Doctor Donna 3. The situation on Earth will become so bad the only way to resolve it will be to reset time so it never happened re Sound of drums/ Last of the Timelords.

I haven’t felt like that watching a Doctor Who in years! I think ultimately it knew it was a first part and took it’s time, but the reveal was worth it and I hope it all pays off next week. I’m also hoping that they’ll link the fact that Gabriel Woolf voiced both Sutekh and the Beast. I think it would be silly not to and would add to the mythos of Sutekh now being ‘the god of all gods’.

Shouldn't sutekh be attached to the original tardis though? As this tardis is the copy reward from the toy maker?

while the theory is good its very unlikely due to the fact the Sutekh latched on as early as Wild Blue Yonder. This episode was really interesting and i quite liked it. The whole obvious misdirect with Susan Triad being Susan, the doctor's granddaughter seemed to fool a lot of people although with me i was a little skeptical cause to me it felt a little too obvious but that's just me not trusting anything i see on screen with any TV Shows or not trusting in general (Thats definitely a me issue lol). I think it works for me like they make you buy into that it actually could be Susan only for it to be a misdirect in a cool way still hits well. It was really nice to see Rose Noble & Mel again and although Rose doesn't seem to get a lot to do here but its nice to see her again. Mel honestly was really good to see and she actually plays a part in the episode instead of being a cameo or not doing a lot. I like her motorbike lol. I like Susan Triads little dance she does cause its so bad its kinda funny. There is a scene between the Doctor & Kate where they talk about having a granddaughter before a child and then her saying she thinks the doctor is wonderful only to counter that later when she gives the doctor a look when one of her men dies in the time window like you can tell shes pissed at the doctor. The Time Window is a very interesting device and while i mentioned the soldier died behind the TARDIS. The hooded woman was pointing at the foggy cloud rather than the Doctor himself which i picked up on after the Doctor landed in the past memory. The hooded woman was pointing at something they couldnt see that was there and possibly had been there since Wild Blue Yonder like hitching a ride. Also Colonel Ibrahim didnt even flinch when the Time Window broke So one thing id like to mention that i didnt notice on every first watching of the episode but did on rewatches. It was the TARDIS groaning which started in Wild Blue Yonder and happened again in The Devil's Chord & Rogue beforehand. I noted that the groan is happening for a reason and i felt like it was something that could come back although i didnt think it was going to matter this series but i was wrong lol. Doctor Who Subreddit also picked on it lol. The reveal of Sutekh was a hell of a reveal was great and what makes it better is that it was a misdirect from them for people thinking it was Susan and looking at other peoples reveals they actually bought into the Susan part. Looking at other reviewers there might have been 2 or 3 who even knew who Sutekh even was which was a real shame but for me it landed in a big damn way. Gabriel Woolf is 91 and hes still got it like my god i got chills right down my spine. I also like how they name dropped other characters in the anticipation including the Toymaker, Maestro, Mara and The Trickster (from Sarah Jane Adventures). I think they might also name the Gods of Ragnarok although im not too sure on that one. I think what could have worked better for its reveal is to maybe have a few little cuts to who they were referencing in the speech leading up to the reveal and when it gets to Sutekh to show his old version just to give you a little more insight. Its also a Hononym i think not a anagram lol. This part is great on a first part and a first watch but i do think it might diminish in rewatches but its still good and the reveal was great even if it didnt land for everyone. Also i joined on with Doctor Who in 2005 but i started watching classic who last year and while i havent gotten up to Sutekh yet (mainly cause of work and multiple injuries on my body) the name really had me with my jaw dropped

@@Venemofthe888 I enjoyed the whole episode. The initial misdirect that the Doctor thought Susan was his granddaughter was, I thought, very clever indeed. It was a fan theory which then got dropped, only for it to be brought up in-universe to throw us off the actual reveal. Had me doubting myself and then smiling the whole time once I realised what was going on. My inner nerd is happy that Gabriel Woolf is back as Sutekh - thank you production team 🙏🙏 On the new Tales of the Tardis, they're doing Pyramids of Mars on Thursday evening, so that would be a good catch-up on all things Sutekh prior to the finale if you haven't seen it during the Classic run.
