There's lot's of stories of people like this (and I think I might know 1 or 2). There's a particular channel (the guy is called Ray & maybe you've watched it) where he tells these stories every few days. Quite often it's a woman pretending she has cancer - to the extent of shaving her hair off, pretending to have needles feeding her plasma or whatever. Or pretending that her daughter is very ill & asking for numerous donations. Of course the daughter has to keep getting new ailments to keep people's interest :)

My brother struggles with lying just like Clinton Kane. The amount of times he’s told his friends that me (his sister) and my parents are actually dead or live in a completely different area is insane; I think this is more common than we all think it is.

My older sister had a (then) best friend who lied about her parents being dead, too. She was adopted, but not because she was orphaned. She was surrendered by her mom who was an addict. This girl was also a kleptomaniac, stealing her coworkers’ stuff just because it was left out in her reach. Even though she had a great life with her adoptive parents and a very attentive best friend, she decided to lie about everything she thought would get her more attention. I think she may also have lied about the number of siblings she had, I’m honestly not sure because there were so many things she lied about it’s difficult to remember what was true.

They had yachts, a mansion, and gold and jewels. He always promised once they went back and retook Belize that my friend would get her every desire and her friends, including me, cars and money. Fortunely after 3 years of dating they broke up. Crazy part, this dude still follows me on Instagram and went back home to both his living parents in a trailer park in the mid west. This is dangerously close to a Dragnet episode where Joe and Bill were investigating a missing persons case about a high school girl but they interviewed the girls sister. Joe wasn't convinced so he dug further and discovered that the " older sister" didn't exist. As Joe put it.. who did we talk to yesterday... it's on KZbin and you need to watch the whole thing as it defies simple description..

Someone I’m related to was dating a girl for a couple years while she was in university and med school. Turns out that she never went to med school. She never even went to university. She was lying the WHOLE time. The biggest question we have is “where was she when she said she had class?”

There was a contestant on Survivor in 2003 who along with his friend said his Grandmother died. The sympathy allowed him to win the challenge and continue in the game. It was revealed in the Finale that she was alive. The rest of the cast and the host were not happy with him at all.

This is exactly why I never bothered with writing songs about relationships except for my relationship with Jesus. It's not worth my time and it's my way of telling people about that stuff. Whoever I tell are my close friends and family about breakups. No one else needs to know. But I will gladly portray the love that God has for me and vice versa.

I lost 3 close family members in the span of 18 months. The trauma that is inflicted after such a tragedy is immeasurable. Even now, 4-5 years later, I still get anxious and nightmares about more family dying. Lying about such a serious matter is just plain insulting to people who have experienced it. I am all for separating the art from the artist, but it still is hard to look at the material the same again. (Although not that I can say anything about his music because I don’t think I even heard of it until today)

For real. I lost both my great grandmothers and my uncle within 6 months. I wasn’t close to one great grandma as she didn’t speak, but the other and my uncle (that great-gma’ son) I lived with. Not something I could understand getting a kick out of lying about. Then again, people like that obviously are mentally unstable.

I had a friend named Denis, Denis convinced one of his friends for 2 years that his mother was dead, fast forward to when Denis needed a lift to his mothers. He asked his friend (who believed she was dead) to drive him. Long story short they are no longer friends, Denis would literally cry to his friend about his mother being dead and they cried with each other. Only for all of it to be fake. Crazy people out there, stay safe and stay vigilant

@@P.Whitestrake Yeah, imagine in a world where people live with literally no money and they struggle for a plate of food that you could tell a bullshit story and keep lying for a few years and never have to work again and live in a mansion for the rest of your life... oh wow... why do people lie I wonder... Seriously... naivety is worse than stupidity sometimes... I've been working 12 hours a day for bullshit money, have no personal life and barely getting by... this dude just said some crap story about his family and he lives in a fucking mansion jerking off all day... We live in a fucked up world where being good and hard working is literally a punishment and you'll never see a better day in your life if you're that way...

I’m not that shocked that a musician would fake a tragic back story to get attention and seem “deeper” as an artist (though it’s super disturbing morally). The real head scratcher to me is why he lied about being Australian and faking an accent-I don’t know why he didn’t think being from Brunei was interesting enough?! I had never heard of it before; I woulda thought it was really cool and unique he was from there lol.

Both uncles gone. My mom is alive but she lives in another state and is on hospice because she's very sick. I myself have congestive heart failure. Thank God i have my children.
