Bookers didn't chase world titles, per se... They were running the territory. So, Cody did his part to put over other talents vs chasing world titles or tag team titles (yes, he was the TNT champion, because that title needed to be elevated initially, not to feed his ego.) At some point, you decide you don't want to be an EVP, when he was doing it right. He left, because it wasn't serving his career or what he wanted. Sometimes it's really that easy.

WWE is a massive, multi-billion dollar company. AEW isn't. The Khan's can be, but AEW is not. That's the difference. WCW was a secondary promotion for all but a year or so. IMPACT was a secondary promotion. Do you want to make okay money in IMPACT or WCW, or do you want to make real money in WWE? It's that easy. AEW pays less, but has a better schedule. It's focused on TV. WWE is focused on grinding talent with multiple shows a week that aren't on TV. They're movies. They're music. They're merchandising. They're spin off TV. AEW isn't. They're KZbin spin offs.

AEW is only 5years old so everyone in pro wrestling before AEW most likely dreamed of being a WWE superstar and more importantly become the most prestigious champion in professional wrestling history which still happens to be the WWE champion! Some years from now you may have kids wanting to grow up to become AEW champion but now that’s AEW job to stay a float so these kids that one day want to be AEW champion can fulfill there dreams on being so! And really even if it was a shot trips took at AEW it’s really true AEW is a secondary company even with all the money TK can get from his Daddy it’s still Second to WWE shoot the way things going they might be 3rd the way TNA has rebounded lovely these last few years! I think its time for TK to fully focus on AEW alone before he finds himself all by himself back at home setting dream matches up with wrestling figures all over again instead of the real live action figures of today!

Regardless of whether there's truth in it or not, all WWE's ever done is ignore, use, insult, buy or destroy other wrestling companies, depending on the individual company. Like they've acted as though Sting just disappeared after WWF bought out WCW, when in reality he spent years and years wrestling for TNA. Honestly, I'm not even against it. Competition breeds innovation, which is what made the Monday Night Wars such a legendary era with an unparalleled popularity of wrestling. If AEW continues to grow (and fixes its numerous problems), and WWE and AEW take a more direct approach to being rivals, even modern WWE fans will benefit, because that'll guarantee that they'll get the most compelling product.

We all know that WWE had the best arenas with pyrotechnics and intro theme music and wrestlers promos, but WCW had the best technical wrestlers and special cage matches and ring designs ever created. That's why DX and WWE had to infiltrate WCW to get back on top and win the Monday night wars because that was their last and best shot of coming out on top. Of course Turner was tired of running WCW, so it was his chance to get out of the business too, so they put WCW 2nd rate wrestlers against WWE 1st. That gave WWE ownership of WCW special rings, etc and put WCW wrestlers in charge of training the new NXT up and coming talents which is taking over the Main WWE production right now. Thanks HBK, Booker T, HHH which all came from wcw 1st. Big ups to Mark Henry, too, who discovered the EST and Jade.

Except for the fact that Cody could have elevated the company higher, made it better, and potentially done something groundbreaking if he had actually turned heel based on crowd reaction, and challenged for the title, going back on his own word. He would have been a mega heel with immense heat, and him being champion as an EVP could have been an action of brilliant nepotism before bringing up a challenger to the next level. I’m not saying he made the wrong move for himself it’s very clear he’s doing brilliantly in WWE, I’m just saying he could have done something incredible with AEW if he had stayed.
