@hanazilinska44994 жыл бұрын
Losing or winning is not that important actually. What you learned is more important. So the more you play, the more you learn, the more you win. When I realized this, I didn't care that much anymore if I lost or if I won league of legends game. I evaluated the game by how well I played, what I've learned and thought about what I can do better next time.

A subject I am so invested in... games. Action games in particular (as stated) help with memory, but they also help with reaction time. When you have to notice every tiny detail about where your opponent is and how to go about the situation at hand helps to train a person's mind to think quicker on their feet, which can help in presentations, job interviews and many social situations. Puzzle games help a person work out their mind in memory, recognizing things that may not fit or questioning every possibility. This helps people with problem-solving and attention to detail and helps in real world situations such as preparing a presentation or job, organization and even helps people notice things that others may not. For example, a company such as progressive is writing code for their company website and there is a small error in one piece of the code. These skills can help the developer to catch or even entirely avoid situations such as these. Story/mystery games challenge and develop a person's creativity. Schools, parents and pretty much every can argue that books such as George Orwell's 1984 have a significant impact in developing a person's mind, aiding in their growth. Video games with complex, branching story arcs and controversial themes can aid a child's mind in the same way. Games like Detroit: Become Human have very complex themes or a dystopian future hat could easily follow our society's mindset. Persona 5 challenges conformity in Japanese youth, encouraging players to express themselves and stand up for those who need help. MORALE OF THE STORY: Play video games, they're fun, educational and can help you in your daily life (reflexes, problem-solving and even confidence!)

Agree with this! I played video games since I was a kid, and that was how I encountered english and been picking up the language since then. I still remember how me and my brother playing Harvest Moon with dictionary beside us because we were desperate to understand the game 😂 I didn’t even know a single grammar but I have learned tons of words from games. At age of 10 I realized how “bad and good” is subjective, from the storyline of an RPG game that I played. Well played, my childhood.

This question has too many variables to be simply and generally answered with yes or no. Anything you do changes your brain = you potentially learn something, get potentially better at something, get potentially smarter. (But define smart... IQ? Grades? Skills?) The important question is: - are you learning something you can use in real life? Reflexes are cool, but where are you going to use them? Driving? What else? During my studies on university, several of my classm8s wrote their works about such benefits of games in real life. And they turned out to be minor. I remember "it's a good exercise for your brain" as one of the main benefits. - can you translate it to real life? I was a master broker in one game, rich and wealthy. In real life? It's not as easy, market in real life is HUGE, much more complicated, and has tons of rules you need to learn and follow (law, taxes, accounting...). And here you are dealing with real money, you can loose your house, get into depths, get into jail, etc. Games make things over simplistic. Good if you want to learn some basic, but nothing more. Plus: - too much of anything is bad. We need healthy mix of sport, socializing, work, learning, and other different experiences. Gaming can give you only limited (and actually quite small) amount of knowledge and skills compared to the rest of the world. I'm also a gamer (RPGs, MMORPGs, MOBAs, simulators, puzzles), so I know what I am talking about :) funnily enough, probably the most valuable thing games taught me was: something's not working (game, video driver, etc)? Google the solution and remember to create a backup point before you start the surgery :D :D :D

Nature is one of the most influential scientific journals. . I don't know how computer games differ from smartphone games but aren't all strategic games in general help you improve, or do video games have a significant effect? Does someone know?
