Regarding Marvel Rivals, it seems to me that the lore is not particularly thought out, but this is not a problem since the lore of Overwatch stopped at 3 released missions. Yes, they tell the past of the new/old characters, but the main plot is literally stuck in one place. Therefore, I think for Marvel Rivals it will be enough to write down the dialogues.

We need server browsers back, dead games can sprout back when a small player base can easily locate each other, 1 discord server can be the one thing keeping a game from kicking the bucket. Matchmaking only works for multi-thousand player numbers, especially when trying to add skill based matchmaking in the mix. We’re now seeing the consequences of that structure.

Hero Shoters have a terminal issue and its TF2. Why play modern hero shooters when a game who's population is over 80% literal bots is just already better?

The only thing I disagree with here is the idea that new players should be blocked from using more complex characters to start, but that may be personal bias. See, I almost universally wind up picking difficult or unusual characters as my first in a new game entirely by accident, it's a personal curse. League of Legends? Kassadin was my first. I played him toplane. Overwatch? Bastion. Paladins? Ruckus. Gigantic? Rutgar. I could keep going. The thing is, I didn't drop these games because I picked someone above my skill level. I would have been far less enthusiastic about Overwatch if I had to play 10 games as Soldier 76 before I could play the characters I actually wanted to play. Maybe I'm an outlier here, though.

@@exomoneylabel Funny, Pip was my second. That being said, Ruckus isn't that complex kit wise, but he pays for his high mobility by being really punishing for playing him badly... at least last I played.

Yeah, accessibility doesn't hinder new players like you said. Alot of the failed "hero shooters" were third person mobas falsely advertised as a hero shooter. Imagine if Smite was advertised as a hero shooter and you're all excited to play then surprise! the community finds out it's actually a different genre that they have no interest in.

Overwatch players are tired of the game and Blizzard's god awful decisions and BEGGING for something different. Just the alpha alone had people saying a ton of good things about Marvel Rivals and asking for more. Honestly unless the devs mess it up with horrible monetization I can easily see Rivals threatening Overwatch. Competent devs and Marvel and as a brand will take it far. Just gonna have to wait and see how things get handled
