Knowing just enough to be dangerous sounds like a classic case of Dunning Kruger effect. That said, I'm a big fan of Jean. I think she is super grounded. Her motive for doing an MBA and a fallback plan totally makes sense. Kudos to her! I would love to hear more from her.

Thanks for your kind note! I will keep going with Tiger Sisters and I also have a cross-over episode where I will finally be featured/interviewed on the next season of Cherie's Corner so keep an eye out for that too :) P.S. In my case any risk of Dunning Kruger is fully mitigated by engrained imposter syndrome so we're safe here lol.

I could totally relate to your approach of your MBA journey. I am currently a second year MBA candidate at UC Davis - STEM and have caught myself wanting to take courses unrelated to my MBA. Still, they are courses that would challenge me individually and professionally. Sometimes I doubt myself but once I complete the course I am so grateful that I pushed myself and accepted a challenge that will ultimately strengthen my weaknesses. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences! Been following since Tik Tok💫

I am just listening to this current junior in undergrad and I’m still deciding if I want to get my mba or not something is telling me I want to but the downside would be the cost and me being able to pay for it bc I really don’t want to go into debt or have to pay ALOT out of pocket
@cherie.brooke3 күн бұрын
We definitely get it! The cost is a huge factor in whether or not the MBA is worth it.

I’ve recently graduated with my undergraduate degree and inherited $17 million. Would you recommend starting my own company through self-education, or would it be better to pursue an MBA at Harvard? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I took a long career break to raise my family. Now I'm considering an EMBA. Do you have advice on how to present myself to a business school?

Hello , thankyou for your podcast. Means a lot. Access to people like you is so easy now , and you are not doing it under a paywall is awesome. I have a question , plz reply genuinely. I have done my commerce degree from a tier 3 college of india , was not having access of right info to get in top college , though I scored 98% in school. My aggreated is 64.2% , if I score 735+ in gmat , can I practically get into HBS or stanford. Provided profile is decent working on a youtube channel with 100k subs and growing everyday.

Unless you’re getting an MBA from a top-tier, globally ranked and recognized school, the financial and career benefits do not outweigh the substantial costs (especially in 2024). The data actually backs this statement. If folks are already in tech/consulting/private banking, are not looking to drastically pivot, or already have an undergrad biz degree, they will NOT get any added value from an MBA (unless it’s from a top-tier school).
@throwaway81665 ай бұрын
For supposed top tier business school graduates their analysis boiled down to platitudes like Learning Is Worth It and You Can Make It Back In The Future. The best was I Don’t Think About the Opportunity Cost. Explains HBS and GSB’s 25% unemployment rate for new grads and “search funds.”

@@throwaway8166 Learning IS worth it though … and you CAN always make more money in the future. If you don’t value learning or you don’t believe in your future earning potential or the financial burden of attending grad school is untenable, then business school may not be worth it for you 🤷🏻♀️

Would be interesting to understand what "hard" skills you learn in an MBA eg do they teach non-tech/finance students how to build models/implement operational strategies etc

Yes we have those classes! Some a required in the first year for students. If you'd like to dig deeper, you can take the more detailed and advanced classes in the 2nd year.
