Yes. Especially if it's something your neighbors are going to see. Even if it's in your legal right (on your property), it's not a bad idea to just go over there and ask/talk about it. You're living next to them. Might as well make sure they're in the loop.

My daughter bought a farm house in a tiny community. She had the land surveyed and noticed the neighbor was encroaching her property with trash. She contacted authorities and they told her that if his stuff remained on her property he would own that piece of her property. She had to hire a lawyer to fight it and she won. Protect yourself and get a survey!

This is interesting because where I live (not saying where) I would not be allowed to remove anything on my property put there by someone else but would have to request that the other person remove it and, if they didn't, then I would need a court order to require them to remove it. Crazy!!!
