I actually like the pop of colour from the neighbors side behind the mirrored door. I live outside Chicago and if I asked someone to change a part of their yard esthetic to match mine. Oh, boy! Lol The neighbors may have flowers planted behind the shed or similar and the black paint may clash. I respect others opinions on this though. This looks wonderful! Keep on, keepin' on Robbie and Brent! ☮

The creeping fig is going to look so gorgeous on the arbor! I also love the look of it along the house, it gives such a cozy vibe to the space. Last week, I ordered the paint sprayer on your recommendation. Hubby and I are excited to use it… it’s our first sprayer! We are building a media wall with an electric fireplace, soundbar and our 65” TV… shiplap with a dark charcoal color to break up some of the very light walls.

I sort of wish, you had centered the pergola with the shed, on the other side of the fence.. Would it be very annoying to move the pergola?😂 And then, as someone else also suggested, I would ask the neighbour, if it would be ok to paint the back of their shed black, too? Just because the back is so visible from your side. Anyway, if you did all this, it would REALLY create the illusion, that the door actually led somewhere 😁😁😁 I would then actually go all out, and create a little "front porch" seating area there 😂

I was hoping it wouldn't be black or that you'd consider painting the mirror another color. It's a little 2 dimensional with everything being black. Maybe once the fig grows to the top it'll break it up visually. Isn't creeping fig a slow grower, like a foot a year? Gonna take a few years to get to the top of that arbor.

Thought… what about attaching a piece of black stained lattice across the back so that the creeping fig will cover and the neighbors shed will be totally blocked off… now is the time to do it and if you stain the lattice b4 attaching it would be a 10 minute project.
@fabricandflowers832 ай бұрын
If you offered to paint that side of your neighbors shed do you think they would let you? Your green color you love would be perfect on that side of the shed. Black was definitely the right choice.

OK Robbie, I don’t want to rain on your creeping fig parade…..BUT I wish you would mention about their huge invasive root system. I have had it and still do have creeping fig growing on a huge stucco arch at my front steps. However I was forced to remove it from the stucco wall , probably 30-40 linear feet. The fig invaded my in ground irrigation, busted my wall and plugged up drainage going out of a walled patio. Its roots become ginormous with age. Just be aware.

Robbie, I had creeping fig on one house and it covered the back half of it. One day I wanted it all down and I just made one pull and it all came off! So, no problem. But, I do have to say it doesn't grow that fast, so I don't know if it will be all the way up by the time you guys move.

While I love your mirrored door and arbor, I wish you would have chosen a different location where that shed was not behind it. Since you are planning to move plants anyway, it would have been great to have planted a group of arbs to obscure it then placed your door/arbor to the side of the arbs. That shed is like a pimple o the nose of a beautiful woman. You can’t help but focus on it. Meanwhile, I love you walkways and window boxes. And I can’t wait to see what you do with your new swoop. Will it have a “Janey” look?
