Seeing as the comments have turned into something more serious; My wife and I went through a real choppy couple of months around the time she was graduating from college. We took a somewhat forced break as she went to China for a year to teach conversational English. When she got back we tried working through issues (a year apart does not grow a relationship) and after 3 years of trying I decided I was done. She didn't like that and fought me tooth and nail over it. Eventually I told her if she didn't sign divorce papers I'd just starting seeing other people and make her resent me. She thought I was bluffing and so I went on my merry way. We got divorced after she said I was seeing other people. I've been divorced since 2016 and now have a 2 1/2 year old and soon to be a daughter. It worked out and the only real regret I have is not having split from my now ex-wife before she left for that year. It was pointless and we were already too far over an edge by that point.

My fiancé left me when I was going through a rough time mentally. I was suicidal. She blocked me on everything and then a year later I texted her from my work phone and told her happy thanksgiving. Instead just let her know in a respectful calm and very clear way; “If you need a break I can’t promise I’ll be waiting for you. You might regret it and it’s not going to be my problem. So make sure you know what you’re doing because I’m not just another option or side option.” And if you find out she’s been fooling around with someone that’s a very clear sign it’s time to let her go and move on to the next one or take that time to reflect and focus on yourself.
