Mainwaring is pronounced Mannering Great video. There's a theory that Mary and Anne switched identities so that means it was Anne that gave birth and Mary was possibly disguised as a man again and able to hide in plain view.

I strongly recommend the book "Under the black flag" by David Cordingly. He strips away all the glamor and explains what they were really like. It is NOT for the faint of heart and I recommend it only for children ages 15 and older unless parents read it with them. PS: Cordingly was a historical advisor for Disney Pictures on the Pirates of the Caribbean films.

@@largol33t1 an outstanding book. Also there is a huge amount of literature on pirates and piracy of the 16th and 17th centuries in naval archive's both here in the US and Britain. Not nice people, to say the least, but in a lot of incidents, were tools used by the British, French, and Dutch, against the great power in the Caribbean, the Spanish. And in turn, the Spanish used the pirates against their foes, quite often. And a pirate's main weapon, terror !

With Disneyland going so PC, I am surprised that they kept those morals up (knowing the history behind them was interesting). BTW why is there no moral for Redd, I thought maybe one the two ladies was her, but *nope.* Also why is Redd only in one spot on the ride (formerly the auction scene) and not represented nowhere else?
@KennyVee
@KennyVee 3 жыл бұрын
A moral is the lesson taught in a story. I think the word you're looking for us mural. Also, the murals in the queue represent actual pirates of the past other than Barbosa and Jack Sparrow. Redd isn't real, therefore isn't represented alongside actual pirates that existed or movie characters. I do like your idea, though, of having Redd be in more places as a recurring character. I would say that no other pirate is in more than one pace, but...there's Jack Sparrow. And I would be 100% okay with having Redd replace him as a character that shows up multiple times as part of the story,

Fun fact: in "At world's end" when Liz and Jack tell their pirate allies to "hoist the colors," those were not made up by the production team. The flags were used by real pirates like Edward Low and Blackbeard. And the Chinese pirate was based on a real person, Madame Ching, who lived in the mid-1800s.
