It's not often that an actor will accept a role without even reading the script, but that's exactly what happened when Johnny Depp was offered the role of Gellert Grindelwald in this film. He snatched up the part claiming that he was a huge fan of the series. Unfortunately, the actor was fired suddenly from the Fantastic Beasts franchise after he lost his libel case against the U.K. publication The Sun, who called him a “wife beater”. However, a trial is going on right now that can bring new information to light.

I wouldn’t mind more movies in the series including both Mads and Depp, if Grindelwald is identified as a metamorphmagus. We already saw that capability for most of the first movie, whether we call that a spell or polyjuice potion, or metamorphmagus abilities… Only problem is, even if they offered to do this (which would be the fairest thing for both actors and all fans watching this), Depp has said he never wants to work with the company again, and I honestly don’t blame him.

The first movie was actually good, the 2nd was kinda shit like the new one, but I did find it more enjoyable to watch. Johnny depp had a great performance but it couldn't save the movie. Mads performance in the new one wasn't bad at all either but, like I said, it changed nothing since the script was already shit. They're pretty much fucked at this point because Johnny Depp was a fan favorite, Mads did nothing wrong but yeah, they are doomed with the 4th installment as it most likely will not happen.

When FB2 did worse than expected she had already written the script for the 3rd. Then all the controversy around Johnny Depp, Ezra Miller and Rowling herself worsened the situation. WB were doubting more and more that FB3 would be successful and if FB4 should even be made. They rewrote the script to tie up all loose ends and add more fan service. I also suspect Grindelwald's and Credence's roles were reduced 😕

This was not a man/woman thing. It’s pretty obvious this was an in-club and out-club thing. No matter what the feminists and anti-feminists want to stupidly bicker about. Johnny Depp joined the industry at a time it was easier for “nobody’s” to get in on good looks and good talent, if you were willing to sell your soul and pay a price, and if you were profiled as a person easy to manipulate because of coming from a broken family or other things like poverty. A lot of people in that camp, who joined when they were young and naive, are regretting some parts of that decision now, and are now pushing back against the abuse of the industry, even some people born into it are speaking up, though rarely. Amber Heard isn’t merely any woman. Oh sure she’ll use the feminism card, but most women know it’s nonsense and has nothing to do with women’s rights. She has deep ties in modeling and entertainment since her birth, and unlike some people who are born into it who speak up (Miley Cyrus has been a big example there) when something is wrong, she is BIG on taking advantage of her birth and has played the sick, twisted games she has been taught to play her whole life. This wasn’t about gender, this was about nepotism. Depp has some family ties too and obviously years of friendships in the industry, but nothing like Heard, and he’s also been disobedient to their power structure on occasion because his fan base is so huge and he feels he can push back. While he’s right that he can afford to push back more than most people can, he still pissed off some big wigs. There were people in Disney and Warner Bros who were chomping at the bit to have him fired and scandalized to punish and embarrass him for not towing the line. They’ve done this to plenty of women in Depp’s position too. Amber Heard relied on her much deeper industry ties and the fact that she’s practically got a mafia behind her. Which is why she faces no consequences now for what most women would go to jail for- removing someone’s finger. Those men who helped stage the phone call to make Depp look like an abuser, they have the same privileges that Amber Heard has, by “virtue” of working for her, that Johnny and most other people don’t. This is way more about class and certain industry families, than it is about gender or anything else “identity politics.”

But watching the first movie..showed that Grindelwald has more than just darkness..as much as I really Like Mikkelsen..Depp would have shown a different side of the character..grindelwald isnt a straight edge antagonist like Tom Riddle Jr. And that shows with his friendship with Dumbledore n his past n his refusal to tell anything to the dark lord in his own way...

He said for years he would love to have an opportunity to do work for that fictional universe. It’s heartbreaking he had this snatched from him. Between Johnny Depp and Henry Cavill in the last few years. And many, many others. Countless men and women, on the screen and working behind the screen, have been thrown under the bus like this when they don’t tow the line. Happens to musicians too, ask Nicki Minaj (and I’m by no means the biggest fan of her work though I like some of her songs- it didn’t escape my notice how she was thrown under the bus for caring about her fans). Dolly Parton being put through hell by reporters. It just never seems to end. The bad ones who get in on nepotism and back-stabbing get the most say, and the ones who are actually big fans of art, stories, books, video game universes, music, whathaveyou… they get treated like trash if they don’t tow the line.
