@tigeryt6372 жыл бұрын
@@ondrejbednar5853 Good movie but contradicts A LOT of what was established in the og HP series. These are the two main questions IMO: 1. Why is the Supreme Mugwamp post so important in this series? In HP 5 (book) it was established that Dumbledore lost his position as Supreme Mugwamp after the whole Voldemort is Back situation. It was very that the post wasnt of any importance at all. If it was, how can the 'leader' of the wizarding community be threatened by someone like Doleres (a British Ministry staff) or even be a skl teacher? Why would? What even did Dumbledore as the Supreme Mugwamp? In this movie, the Supreme Mugwamp was portrayed as a celeb but how come Dumbledore wasn't portrayed in the same manner at all (when be was Supreme Mugwamp). Anw, the point is, it wasnt important then, how is it important now? 2. The whole mirror dimension in the Credence fight.. and also the fight with Grindelwald (if the mirror dimensioms were the same). If these sorta different dimensions where nobody sees the duels exist, it completely changes the whole combat aspect of duels in the wizarding world. For the Fantastic Beasts series and in terms of cinematics, the movie was great but as a Potterhead, probably not. Would be great MovieFlame or Rowling herself can answer some of these questions in the future. Would rly love to hear what you potterheads think as well.

It was so weird we didn’t see thesus grieve about leta at all. All the human and relatable emotions were barely explored. I think that might be because of the time gap. The second movie took place in 1927, and according to the synopsis, this one took place in 1932. Theseus did grieve, just not on-screen. (That being said, a flashback would've been nice.)

Bowing to Newt, or even Jacob, would’ve been more suitable 6) Yusuf Kama is kinda just there. Actually, without Leta Lestrange I don’t think he has much to add to the plot.

Agreed. I also don't really like how Dumbledore talk abt love with Grindelwald. It was too plain and given their complicated relationship, I was expecting something more delicate and elaborate. Also, it is unlike Dumbledore to speak of something such as love in such plain language. Likewise, impt details such credence being Aberforth son being told through dialogue and exposition could definitely have been done better with the screenwriting.

I thought it was a nod to how dumbledore would never want power due to how it corrupted him.
@christiancividino4552 жыл бұрын
Agree with all your points except 4. The Blood pact was extremely hard for Dumbledore to break as evidenced by his attempts to defy it. It only started cracking or the magic unraveling when both of their intents collided magically in spells used for/against Credence. It’s because Dumbledore has finally sided with family over his only lover. He has the full intent to stop Grindelwald and has overcome his past. The past will continue to haunt him but like he said it’s fate because he’s committed to a sense of duty and greater love for other wizards and muggles. The reason the qillin bows to him despite his flaws and past mistakes is because this is an Albus Dumbledore who has cast aside ego in favor of helping others. This is the same Dumbledore who gives his life later to save Draco and works with Snape and others to stop Voldemort through one thing Tom never had - selfless love.

Throughout this movie Albus and Aberforth seem pretty close, which is a far-cry from their relationship decades later when they weren't even on speaking terms. In fact it seems like at this point Albus regularly goes to see Aberforth at his home and at the Hog's Head, despite the fact that we are lead to believe he still holds a grudge over Albus for what happened to Arianna. My guess is what will actually strain Albus's relationship with Aberforth has something to do with Credence. Now that Aberforth has his son back, he will undoubtedly want to do everything he can to save his life and to protect him. So my theory is that in the next movie, Gellert has some way to save Credence from dying from the obscurial. He offer Albus to cure Credence if he agrees to join his side. Albus of course refuses, but Aberforth desperate to save his son pleads with Albus to reconsider, and while Albus maybe tempted, he ultimately cannot bring himself to become compromised. So instead Credence dies, and a grief stricken Alberforth goes back to hating his older brother and holding him responsible for everyone they love meeting a tragic end, thus the Dumbledore brothers relationship becomes strained and remains that way for decades.

Now with that out of the way, by the way the movie started with both Grindelwald and Dumbledore you can foresee that it would end with them both. That dimension scene was a moment for them to reflect on who they are now versus when they were young. This was Dumbledore way of letting it go based on what Newt said to him earlier before the duel. I honestly feel that no matter what they still love each. It was unfortunate that it took till the end of the movie for Dumbledore to get over Grindelwald.

I know they had to modify the plot and twist and turn their stories for the FB series but come on. If my professor was the Supreme Mugwump, I think I would at least call him by that title or at least mention about it/hear others mention about it more than once over a decade. The bottom line is that if #FantasticBeastsTheSecretsOfDumbledore Doesn’t do well, And they don’t make the remaining two movies,then Johnny definitely will never be back as Grindelwald!Plus you also have to remember that it’s about to be a new company with new people over seeing it, So as such you were technically not paying that company and are actually giving more of a chance than not having him actually return. Especially depending on what may happen with the results of his trial that’s going to be happening shortly after the movie comes out, the new people taking over Warner Bros. right before it comes out…… Also remember in regards to her that she doesn’t necessarily get a whole lot of money from this, as well the fact remains that as many people have pointed out that she already has so much money that not supporting the series will not really change any kind of “power“ that you may have against her, and after all the series should not suffer at all because of her for Regardless of what you may think, nothing I repeat nothing will ever ever truly take away what a series overall truly means to you let alone other people, And again it’s not The series that’s the problem at all in any kind of way :-) Also keep in mind that even though it’s not the best example they have at least one transgender person or someone who identifies themselves as “They” in the cast so much for her transphobia……

On one level of identifying an abuser, of course Grindelwald checks off some major marks, the most obvious being he says whatever people want to hear to gain their trust. That said, I particularly found it triggering when he asked Dumbledore, "who will love you now??" which is a common tactic they use. It's like a personal attack/insult as a last resort to keep their "victim" down and "in their place" to sum it up. When a manipulative person loses their power, watch them spiral with weak jabs. Happens all the time.

It seemed to me that it was rather not "Who will love you now?" but "Who will love me now?". He projected his feelings, his fear of losing the one and only person who truly loves him, onto Dumbledore. Breaking the blood pact meant for both of them that they were no longer bound by anything. And obviously, for Grindelwald, this is something that hurts him. Jeez, he didn't even really try to kill Dumbledore, they used mostly Expeliarmus and Stupefy. And their last spells, which they directed at each other when they touched each other's hearts, were the harmless Expeliarmus. When Dumbledore turned away from him, leaving him again, he felt resentment, pain, fear that no one else would love him, that he would be all alone. If it was Johnny Depp's Grindelwald, I'd say that it was definitely manipulation. But Mads' Grindelwald seems capable of love, and in his words to Dumbledore I did not hear mockery

Agreed, although I think you significantly reduce the importance of their love. It wasn't just about "having a boyfriend." Dumbledore loved Grindelwald, maybe even till that moment. Hi, just a question, in case you know the answer. Why didn’t Dumbledore enter the bakery? It seems like it’s his choice to be alone. Im not sure though, it just seems that way to me!
@max_kirchi_fca2 жыл бұрын
@@karlalee1245 An exact answer to this question I think only JK himself will know, but I can speculate Especially the last scenes of the movie portray Albus as a man broken in love Grindelwald has clearly hurt him more with his words than a clear separation would have been, you can see that also shortly after, when he doesn't go to his brother and his nephew to help, but he averts the help-seeking gaze of Aberforth So he also keeps away from the other guests, because he is distanced, because he wants to distance himself from love and maybe that will be the problem for the fourth movie as well It also doesn't seem to me quite in keeping with the character of Albus from the later years, but perhaps he still needs to rediscover that to complete his character arc, towards the Dumbledore of the Harry Potter books

One of the things that I noticed in this movie is that they're in Germany when they're talking about the whole International Confederation of Wizards election. And if I remember correctly from History, it was also around this time that Germany was undergoing massive radical changes as I assume that this takes place in the 1930s. Would've been interesting to see that.

@@thebegleyshow3320 It’s honestly interesting when you think about it. Especially in history with Germany being the Weimar Republic and had to suffered a weak government and a lot of elections were called and government changes almost happening every few years with a new Chancellor up until 1933 when Hitler was appointed with him manipulating his supporters as being a great elegant speaker by his supporters winning his party seats and a majority. Which was what we basically saw in this movie with them having an election for the International Confederation of Wizards. And saw Grindelwald be more manipulative to his supporters, and gaining new ones which we saw in a few scenes with the rallies. And as well saw Anton Vogel brushing off any warnings of him growing to power, and believing he couldn’t win and literally allowing Grindelwald off of all charges for his crimes. Which was similar to basically Von Hindenburg and other government officials in the Reichstag brushing off warnings and just thinking they can use him by keeping him in a weaker position of power with him being chancellor which we all know would backfired. Again kind of interesting on how closely this resembles Germany in the early 1930’s which the third film is set in, and honestly what would be happening if the fourth film mentions those events as we are leading up to World War II and the final battle with Dumbledore and Grindelwald at the end of the war in 1945 which would be obviously happening fifth and final film. If the movie series goes by what is on Pottermore then the earliest we would see any sign of Voldemort at Hogwarts is in the following movies (if there are any.) We KNOW Tom Riddle didn't start Hogwarts until 1938 and that he graduated in the beginning of 1945. Secrets of Dumbledore takes place in 1932-1933 meaning that Voldemort wasn't at Hogwarts at this time. However considering they have McGonagall teaching at Hogwarts before she was even born (she started teaching supposedly in 1956 when she was /21 yrs old/) according to Pottermore? For all we know one of the little Slytherin boys who gave Jacob cockroach clusters was supposed to be the then Tom Riddle. Before anyone says "It could be her ancestor though!" In regards to the McGonagall bit. First off in Secrets of Dumbledore he talks to her at the door of the Hog's Head and CALLS HER MINERVA. Secondly she is a half blood who's father is a MUGGLE. Thus, before her mother (by marriage) and her siblings there were no McGonagalls in the wizarding world! Also her mother was named Isobel NOT Minerva and didn't tell Minerva's father about being a witch until AFTER Minerva was born. She was of course born in 1935 which is 2-3 years AFTER the events of this Secrets of Dumbledore!) She is purely fan service. Which means they could make Tom Riddle start school just a few years earlier for pure fan service too if they wanted.

I personally thought that the fight between Dumbledore and Grindelwald was meant to be metaphorical since there was no physical harm done (only emotionally by breaking the bond). I wish people just stop overthinking, this is just a movie. Enjoy it for what it is, we deserve it.

I really think based on this ending that Rita Skeeter recall of the 'famous duel' which end with gilert putting a white flag at the end of his wand and surrendered, is more of the truth then the 3 hour one that was originally thought. The fact that ginderwall says at the end, I am not your enemy then and now, really tells me unfortunately Rita might have been right.

I cannot wait to see the big duel between Albus and Gellet. It was mentioned in the Harry Potter books and was known as the greatest duel of all time. Harry and Voldemorts final duel is not overly great to watch since Voldemort lost his horcruxes so he was weakened. They basically just pointed their wands at each other and that was it. I am hoping the one between Albus and Gellert is more like Albus' and Voldemort's duel in the fifth movie ( order of the Phoenix) with different CGI spells like the dragon or large ball instead of two single streams just pointed at each other.

What the we need to worry about more is people refusing to go and see #FantasticBeastsTheSecretsOfDumbledore all because of her comments; I’d highly encourage and recommend everyone [please Encourage as many other people as you can as well please :-) See it as many times as they can in theaters, and even If possible,buy a ticket for it In place of going to see another movie so that way it still gets money without you actually having to see it multiple times. Buying as many merchandise directly related to it as possible will also truly help. Also remember that if you’re refusing to see it because of #JohnnyDeppIsMyGrindelwald Then please remember that this movie needs to do well so as to give Johnny the chance to actually come back in the Later movies, For the actor who played MacNair The executioner was re-casted for prisoner of Azkaban and then came back for order of the Phoenix.

SPOILER WARNING: The problems I had with this movie was it sort of broke rules set up by the previous films. Why would Creedance need to be hidden if he wasn't half muggle and if his mother was muggle wouldn't he share Albus's views at the time? Another thing I don't like is how the "Give Jacob a Wand" thing was never fully explained and they did this for what? Now they contradict everything about muggles and magic just to say that Jacob's wand is "quite rare" so there wont be too much of an issue (it reminds me of a Harry Potter story I wrote when I was 7) For the one or two scenes he actually uses it in? I feel like the "internal" duals sort of don't give any real world consequences which sucks. Theisis or Newt despite being torn apart with pain after losing Leta in the last movie do not mention her once, no... NOT ONCE. Grindelwald later obliviates her brother's memory to take Zoe Kravitz out of the universe pretty much entirely (even more of an acting carousel). I also had a problem with how Hogwarts looked in the film, everything looked so CGI'd compared to what we are used to. Speaking of an acting carousel Tina's character is never explained why she isn't there besides "she's busy" I thought they would at least make Tina have taken polyjuice potion and be Bunty but it brought me out of it solely because I knew it had to be due to actor schedluing conflicts or some real world problems which on top of the many actors that they've already had problems like this hapopen to it seems like they've gotten another. This movie was better than Crimes of Grindelwald and my favorite Fantastic Beasts movie for the cinematics and what they actually showed of the wizarding world this movie it just seems like this series was "hijacked" by Dumbledore and this Grindelwald subplot. I think J.K. in the writers didn't know what to do with a sole Newt storyline for a trilogy and had to throw these guys in. Stil worth a good watch for any potter fan just don't get your hopes too high. If you go in wanting to watch possibly the best film in the Fantastic Beasts trilogy than your expectations are right on the money but if you are going into it with the expectations of the original franchise prepare to be dissapointed. Give the muggle a wand so he can use it in one scene where he doesn't actually use it but Lanny (who is a great character add on, loved her in this film) is doing all of the work anyway... you can tell this movie suffered from the amount of rewrites they did on the script. It was leaked there was supposed to be a young Ariana Dumbledore flashback that we were completely robbed of. They need new writers going forward, besides Hogwarts castle (the damn best part) the cinematography was PERFECT in this movie, the cinematograohy in this movie rivals any Harry Potter movie made but cinemtaography & great actors alone cannot help bad writing, a MESS of canon plot holes and the real life actor conflicts with this movie. Was it a good Fantastic Beasts movie? Yes (minus the horrid rewrites) Was it a good Harry Potter/Wizarding World movie? Hell no
@awsomeness86642 жыл бұрын
That pretty much sums up my opinion. However, it does make sense that Jacob never actually uses his wand because at the end of the day he’s still a muggle, and a wand just channels the magic you already have. Jacob, apart from being the sweetest guy ever, doesn’t have a drop of magical blood in him.
@OfficialKlassic2 жыл бұрын
@@awsomeness8664 I agree with what you are saying! I guess the point I’d ask is if it was for maybe 1 spell? (I watched it yesterday so he may have used it twice but I believe it was once) why even give him the wand? The rewrite I feel screwed this movie over but I liked the visuals this movie had.

Considering the film feels like a solid ending for the Fantastic Beasts characters (Dumbledore can fight Grindlewald now so doesn't need them as much, and they seem pretty happy at the end), I feel this is the perfect time to do what they should have done from the beginning: Rename the next film to ALBUS DUMBLEDORE and the something something something. I feel Dumbledore's story is the main crutch of the story and the most compelling part of these past two films. The Fantastic Beasts aspect felt forced past the first one. So now, with it ending on a shot of Dumbledore, and the pact is broken, JUST MAKE THE FOURTH FILM HIS FILM! That's my opinion ofc. Fantastic Beasts characters can cameo, but Dumbledore's story is what we wanna see.

When I first saw young Dumbledore and Nicolas Flammel in the second movie, I was like: yes! Please let the other 3 movies be in this order: 3rd movie - okay, Grindelwald and Dumbledore battle (half a movie, then after some years introducing young Tom Riddle, born 1926, maybe him getting to the orphanage..), 4rd movie, also maybe after some years later: Marauders and their forming, young Severus Snape, also some Voldemort story (Nagini romance..).. and the 5th one: sloooooowly getting to the point where Voldy opens the door and kills Lily (end of the movie...) ... that would be so wonderful... I think, even though we all know the history, that everyone would LOVE to watch it in movies.. and there are so many Fantastic Beasts in HP universe that there could be even more about them in this pre-HP times.. oh well.. such a great potentional.. so, I don't think the other two movies (there should be 5, is that right?) will even get close to the Marauders time... a pity! Also: where was Nagini??? Why Credence didn't get the story he deserved? And Ariana? I would really love the theory of Ariana's obscurus attaching to Credence, making him therefore a Dumbledore.. I also guessed him to be Albus' brother - Ariana, Albus, Aberforth, Aurelius.. AAAA.. Aurelius being Aberforth's son - well okay, bud badly done... :( Nothing really happened in the movie.. who cares about elections? Politics? Why there wasn't someone like Nicolas Flammel in the second movie? Like.. I don't know, grand/parents of the Marauders.. Anyway... it's not a HP movie... so... enjoyable, but oh well...

I think the blood pact breaking works because they didnt specifically move against each other, the target of their spells were Creedence, one to kill him and the other to protect him. The blood pact didn't stop them because they didnt attack each other, but since their spells met it made the pact null and void. This really makes me wonder how the 3 way duel between the Dumbledores and Grindlewald went, because the only way for Albus to have been involved at all is for him to have been protecting Aberforth without his spells connecting to Grindlewalds, or he was fighting against Aberforth, which doesn't make much sense to me. The only way I could see this making sense is Aberforth was attacking Albus and Grindlewald, Grindlewald was attacking Aberforth, and Albus was moving Aberforth out of the way of Grindlewald's attacks

I think that they made the pact before the fight that killed Leanna and I think the loophole that Dumbledore used was that he wasn't necessarily moving against Grindelwald. His motivation was to save Credence not to stop Grindelwald which I think is what allowed him to make that move. Also they explain in the movie that they could break the pact at anytime so it wasn't that a rule had to be broken but that Dumbledore needed to fulfill whatever the requirements for breaking it were without Grindelwald realizing until it was too late. Maybe dumbledore using the loophole threw off Grindelwald and he just attacked Dumbledore automatically and the requirements for it breaking were that they both had to mutually attack eachother agian or something idk

3:42 I know I'm late to the party (2 years late in fact) but I don't think the blood pact itself was enough to trigger the construction of this mirror dimension and its consequent destruction. Let's not forget that they are in one of the most magically infused places in the world, the magic in the air might have empowered the blood pact and together with some random unknown magical power, created and ended this dimension. It also makes me think that's why their spells looked so powerful. Yes, both of them have incredibly powerful wands but again, the location where they find themselves in heavily infused with magic that is incredibly ancient and powerful.

Only complaint i have is that dumbledore doesn't need to be so emo. Just because you lost your boyfriend, doesn't mean it's cool to sit in the dark, brooding across the road from a wedding all your best friends are at.

Stuff relating to the pact is difficult to adress, because it breaks the lore. Because if they made it before the 3 way fight, then the 3 way fight couldn't have happened, since Albus and Gellert wouldn't have been able to fight each other. And if they made it after the duel, it contradicts what we know again, because it is said that after the duel, Grindelwald left never to return, and also it doesn't make sense for them to make that pact after fighting, because why would they want to see each other after that. It makes sense to make that pact when they are allies, not when they are enemies Anyway, i have three questions. So the pact broke because one wanted to kill and the other to protect? How does that relate to the pact not letting them fight one another? Maybe it's really obvious, but it was confusing for me. How did Albus and Aberforth managed to stop Avada Kedavra without weird relationships between the wands? And why the false chillin, wich is surely an inferi, dies at the end? Because Grindelwald releases the control over him, because the spell fails? If it was under Grindelwald control, why release it, it will expose you even more. And if he died without Grindelwald whising it, why all the plot with the other chillin even exists? Because if the false chillin died, all the people there would know that Grindelwald was a fraud and was manipulating the voting anyway

The movies do not make any sense at all. None of it. I wish JK had written books instead. The movies are now canon, but none of them make ANY sense, right from the first one.

I never cared about prequels they should continue the universe after DH and no need for Harry or his family to be main characters.Things should move forward the past is the past

The love sacrifice needs to be a real sacrifice not because of the person dying but the person needs to die without presenting resistance. Once people asked JK why James sacrifice didn’t work to save lily since he died trying to protect her and Harry and she said it was because James fought Voldemort. Lily didn’t try to fight him, she just stood in front of her son refusing to give him up and her defenseless act of protection is what saved Harry.

"In the original series we were told" clearly means nothing anymore. There are too many things that break book canon in these movies. We were told BY DUMBLEDORE at King's cross that they never met again from Ariana's death until the duel in 1945. There is also the McGonagall fact, she shouldn't even be born yet. Also we are clearly told that the killing curse can't be blocked and we always see that very thing throughout the book series, it either misses you or you die, no one ever blocks it with another spell or curse or whatever except for Harry against Voldemort but in that case it's the fact that the wands have twin cores and also Harry can't die at the hands of Voldemort because of the blood thing
@har58142 жыл бұрын
McGonagall was already born in the late 19th century for she was Dumbledore's student.

1. Dumbledore is A fucking liar DUH 2.Tell me where is Mcgonagall birthdate in the books 3. Dumbledore didnt block the killing curse he moved Gellert wand causing him to miss
@matteoairaghi7902 жыл бұрын
@@memiaszzinternetu6513 1. the whole point of the King's Cross scene at the end of the books is that Dumbledore finally stops lying to Harry and tells him the whole truth, if was lying then it ruins what is pretty much the best scene of the whole series. 2. Mcgonagall says in the order of the phoenix that she has been teaching at Hogwarts for "39 years this december" and 1995-39=1956 3. Dumbledore and Aberforth blocking the killing curse is apparently what saves Credence's life and breaks the blood pact. Although that scene is not very clear I admit I might be wrong there
@matteoairaghi7902 жыл бұрын
@@harrietvane7805 I hope you are right about the Mcgonagall fact, but the fact they never met is said by dumbledore in the King's Cross chapter at the end of deathly hallows
@OfficialKlassic2 жыл бұрын
@@harrietvane7805 I hope they give them another film, there’s rumors this could be the last one given Johnny’s controversy with the franchise and now Ezra’s arrests, he’s a main character in this franchise and now he’ll either have to be killed off or recasted more than likely if another film continues on.
