When I was ten we lived in a small town in the Rocky Mountains. I used to wander the wilderness, alone. I saw a couple of lions and bobcats. With mountain lions it was always the same. We'd both freeze...then I'd slowly walk away. When I'd look back they were gone. When they have a choice they leave us alone. The bobcat and I surprised each other. It was on a tree branch over the tree I was about to walk under. Much closer than the lions I'd seen. But the same outcome. I slowly walked backwards and gave it space to take off, which it did. I also saw a bear. Made the hair on my arms stand up.

Where was this filmed? It looks like it could have been done where I grew up in central Pennsylvania! My Mom used to tell me about how Grandma took hunters in during hunting season. This was something that began before Pappy died, and they always had the same hunters, so they knew they were trustworthy. After Pappy died, renting rooms out to these gentlemen provided a little extra income for Grandma who was raising her & Pappy's five girls on her own. Their hunters only hunted deer, but others hunted the mountain lions which were very abundant in central Pennsylvania at that time, hence Penn State University's mascot, the Nittany Lion! Back when Mom was a girl, growing up in the tiny town of Snow Shoe, Pennsylvania, the train was the preferred method of travel when the residents wanted to go to any of the larger cities. This was especially true for Grandma & her girls. Since Pappy had been the station master at the Snow Shoe train station, Grandma & her family could ride for free. Mom said that when the engineer stopped at the water tower, which was about a mile outside of town, to take on water for the steam engine, they often heard mountain lions. She said they sounded like a woman screaming or a baby crying, depending on how far away they were. This gave me the creeps because my sister & I grew up playing in woods just like those shown in this video! One day, when I was a teen growing up in Snow Shoe just as Mom had done, I asked her what it was like there when she was young. That's when Mom told me all the above. She said that back then, the hunters used to bring the deer & mountain lions back into town tied to the tops of their cars, a gruesome practice that was finally outlawed after I left for college, thank goodness! Then dear Mom told me something that astonished me, and literally left me in disbelief! She said many of the mountain lions that were brought in were BLACK!!! I said, "Mom, you've got to be mistaken! That would be a panther, and they only live in Mexico, Central & South America with maybe a few in Florida! But Mom insisted that there were black mountain lions in Snow Shoe! I just walked away shaking my head. Years later, when I was working with a landscape design company in southeast Pennsylvania, I met a young man whose last name was Soster. Since it was such an unusual name in that area, I asked him if he might have grown up in Snow Shoe, because I grew up there and knew a lot of Sosters. I actually used to walk to elementary school with a Soster girl that lived on my street. He said he hadn't but that the Snow Shoe Sosters were his relatives! In fact, his uncle owned a hunting cabin out on the mountain! I knew that cabin well because a friend of our family used to take my sister & I swimming in the beautiful spring-fed pond out there! I asked this young fellow, "Do you hunt?" He said, "Only with a camera. In fact, I was up there just last week and you'll never believe this! I got a photo of a BLACK MOUNTAIN LION!!!" I nearly fell out of my seat when I heard that!!! After I recovered from the shock, (and after looking up to heaven and silently apologizing to sweet Mom for ever doubting her!) told him all about Mom seeing dead black mountain lions that the hunters brought in when she was young, and how I had doubted her. He confirmed to me that they REALLY DID LIVE IN Snow Shoe, PA during Mom's youth, and they really did live up there when this kid got his photo of one! I wonder if they still do???

@HostageAsker2 ай бұрын
@@maxb4074 define “no reason.” Because, that’s absolutely not true. If you mean for sport, almost all of all sport killings are used for food and clothing. Especially trophy hunters. Almost every trophy hunters pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to kill big game predators/animals because that specific animal has become a conservation issue for the locals and surrounding environments including all other animals. Plus, that money goes to help local conservation efforts as well as help 3rd world communities. It’s always a win win. Poachers are bad. However, ever they still aren’t killing to kill. They usually kill to harvest something and sell it. Serial killers rarely kill for nothing. They either have some horrendous vendetta against what or whomstever the fuck or it’s a perversion, or they even eat people. So again, what do you mean, “no reason?” That’s just nonsense.

Yes. It's called chirping. I had one do that and didn't know what it was for a few weeks. I i was thinking it was a bird at first. I soon came face to face with a big male Mountain Lion when it attempted to attack my horses and goats. I used my garden hose with a nozzle set on stream and turned my spicket all the way open, turning it into his face with a high pressure stream until I could back away. It jumped the fence and left. Terrifying experience. This was in North Georgia, where they say we don't have Mountain Lions. People see them usually at dusk and dawn. These big cats can also purr. They are beautiful but scary when you have an unexpected encounter that is aggressive.
