Richard Attenbourogh sold him as a kindly grandpa, but just under the surface was a greedy capitalist who shoestringed a park full of dangerous animals and got people killed, and didn't have an ounce of remorse.

Okay so they definitely did not do this as the book by Michael Crichton, nor was it written in the movie’s released between 1993 and 2001. The 2015 sequels were amazing until the last where they ran out of ideas and said “let’s throw the original cast into this movie to cover up for the fact that we have absolutely nothing left”

Nerdy didn’t do it for profit; he did it out of principle. Hammond took advantage of and severely underpaid Nedry, being the only man capable of maintaining the parks automation system. Read the book, Nedry was overworked and underpaid. It was Hammond’s hubris that destroyed the park thinking he could contain anything within. You can still use this as an allegory for the how Universal waste their animators and CGI artists by overworking and underpaying them.

The other two Jurassic Park movies, JP2, and yes even JP3, aren’t horrible, still having some passion in them. Jurassic World was better than 3 and on par with JP2, and at least was self aware of how it looks like a cash grab, and was a fun movie. They got way too greedy, along with feeling high and mighty during JW2 and Dominion. They lost the plot, forgot the Dinos, and tragically forgot the best phrase by Ian Malcom, “you got too busy proving whether or not that you could do, you didn’t stop and think about whether or not you should.”

In the book, he doesn’t necessarily do it out of greed, as opposed to getting what he is being owed. In the movie, they make him seem like he has debt, but in the book it is because he is excluded, undervalued, underappreciated, and is practically working for free.
