so far i havent bothered to upgrade mine. being able to flat foot both sides due to the soft suspension has saved one or two drops. its a bit like riding a trials bike in so much as the soft suspension gives you lots of grip. it all goes pear shaped though if you hit anything rough at any kind of speed. i certainly would prefer to ride it with upgraded suspension, but the truth is that i am managing just fine on the stock and i cant be bothered to do all the work involved in swapping it out.

on another topic the worst thing isnt the suspension, its the traction control button that doesnt turn it all off.

I totally agree 👍 I could ride a bit more aggressively with upgraded suspension, but don't need to most of the time.

@@Simon-df2ku do you mean the abs button? If you're really keen I think some people have removed the fuse for abs or wired in a switch. It doesn't bother me too much, but it would be better if it stayed in one mode until you change it.

I have a '17 Rally and have added the Race Tech front fork spring kit and Gold Valves. I've added a stiffer rear spring and am contemplating a complete aftermarket shock.

What a ride,stopped breathing a couple of times there watching this one,what a challenge that ride was those mountains are huge,again love your content and you don't disappoint and looking forward to the next❤

Was in same situation as you on last ride on the hill …at 5 ft 8 can touch the ground on level ground a bit different on a camber going up or down a steep track with little traction …150 kg then is awfully heavy …used to lean a much lighter bike. …And rest it .. the seat against my thigh in similar situations can’t do it so easily on a 150 kg plus bike …it gets hairy ..God knows how people on 200 kg tall bikes manage on these hills😊

Hi mate Just bought a 300 rally , at 97 kg have done over 250kms , it reminds me a lot of my old 86 TT230 … only heavier by 30kg or so. The suspension on the old TT was soft but you could push it hard , never bottomed out over jumps . This bike feels top heavy at the front as expected for a bike weighing 150kg plus . It will do 90 per cent of trail riding demands .. but it won’t wheelie at will , but I find at 5 ft8 the ergonomics standing and sitting to be outstanding . It’s cool on the road , needs an adjustable talller fairing for buffeting and wind noise 😮. The indicators at front are always lit which is odd , only bike I have ever ridden that does this ? Thanks, the flip up windshield was a great mod! The bikes really do go anywhere and pretty comfy on the road. Happy riding!

I have no doubt it is more fun in the knarly stuff, but not versatile enough for me. My next ride is three days riding and camping off the bike with gear 👌

@@TwoWheelerSparky I agree 100%. I had changed the springs to match my weight on my 300L and it helped. I think the Honda is a great bike. I just found myself trying to do more and more technical trails…and while the 300L made it through them, it felt heavy and underpowered, and I struggled with it. I’m sure part of that was my lack of skill exacerbating the shortcomings of the bike. There were at least a couple of rides where others on 300L’s passed me and seemed to be doing just fine. The beta does seem to make things easier for me though…
