... John, I just turned 67 and purchases my used Rally 5-31-23. It has a lot of mods/upgrades already. I am doing the Yosh RS4 full exhaust, 550 Stage 1 ECU, CBR intake boot, air box mods and DNA air filter. Maybe I will change the rear sprocket after testing the above mentioned changes. I have been away from the dirt since I sold my last race bike in 1985. That's 38 years!!! It is still in my blood and I am excited to get back into it. . Jeff .

The New Aussie made Unifilter has a snorkel pre filter and a removable pre filter cover for the main foam filter and is made for the really dusty stuff we have here in Aus. I too went from the MT21/D606 combo to Tusk D Sport front and rear. The Tusks are wearing REALLY well and go well on and off-road. BUT, they are really sketchy in rain and standing water. The rear has broken loose several times in turns during downpours. Also had an occasion in the rain where the rear locked up when I was heading to a stop light. The car in front of me slammed on their brakes and for whatever reason ABS didn't do anything. The rear just locked and I stopped a few inches from the cars rear bumper.

I bought the 550 performance ECU and it made a very noticeable difference, not only in the torque and top end performance but, in the slow on off throttle situation. I paired it with the BlackWidow full exhaust. I also had the header ceramic coated from JetHot. I bought the Nitron R1 rear shock and I can honestly say it was well worth the $650. It too is custom based on how the bike will be used. They are a UK company like BlackWidow.

Nice video man. I have a 300L, not the rally. I had a 2013 250L before that. I ride mostly offroad. I've put over 10k miles on 606s, that's on 4 or 5 different sets. I've never had a flat and they're not bad on pavement. My buddy had a WR250R. He was much faster on pavement than I, he never had any issues with the 606s as well. On my 300L I'm sticking with the stock exhaust. We're using Cardo comms so the loud exhaust just doesn't work for me. I had full FMF exhaust on my 250L, even with the Q4 Muffler it was way too loud.

I seen people claiming their rear racks didn't bolt on very good sometimes when they bought them and I thought it might be a good idea to add a note that sometimes the bolts are easy to cross thread that come with racks. Be sure you try multiple attempts before you cross-thread your bolts & force them in because that's no bueno at all if you ever need to remove and reinstall your rack. I bought a wreck that had many complaints of this and mine went on perfectly but I did have to be careful.

Between those two bikes it really just depends what the intended use is going to be the xr650L is a plated XR trail bike that is a very solid performer everywhere out of the box the 300L is going to be much better for long highway rides but it is much more road oriented and more of a dual sport then the xr end of the day if you aren't much of a road riding guy and end up just using either as a dedicated dirtbike the xr would be the better buy its only downfall is the carb and old style emissions (which are easily fixed) and that it tends to get its oil Temps very hot on prolonged high speed road riding (perfectly fine at any trail pace)

I'm curious how much power difference those mods added? I had a computer on a 4x4 ATV that did nothing power wise but sure did make it suck a lot more gas even with an aftermarket exhaust. It also started making it die when it was idling randomly. I remove the computer for the factory only one and everything seemed so much better. The power was the same and it was getting way way better fuel mileage. I can go like two or three times as far on a tank now. So I'm somewhat skeptical about doing computer upgrades anymore.
@MotorcyclesOffroad11 ай бұрын
A huge night and day difference. Everything from throttle response, less jersey throttle, and low end torque.
@jackle84200011 ай бұрын
@@MotorcyclesOffroad that's cool. Does the computer alone make a big difference? I'm not trying to win any races but would like a little bit of power improvement to get down the highway a little better although it does all right. I just installed crash bars and a skid plate and all that type of stuff and don't really feel like pulling it all back off to put an exhaust on with the loctite and all. Don't really feel like doing it even if I didn't have the loctite. And did it happen to mess with the fuel mileage any?

@jackle842000 yeah, so I have a whole video review of the 550 performance ECU flash. He advances the timing and it runs much better. The bike is super lean running from the factory. If you pull your spark plug you will see. He has a stock improved flash as well that requires no other upgrades.
