I don’t care if a criminal is a “rat”. They’re all doing dirt. It’s almost as if murder is OK but a “RAT” is much worse. I can understand a criminal not wanting to be snitched on but regular people also seem to think that way (defending the criminal in a sense). Kind of twisted. If someone in my family is hurt or killed I’m gonna need someone to come forward. I don’t care about so-called snitching.
@Tobemartins-b2e8 ай бұрын

The best way I can explain this is that many people live vicariously through criminals without realizing it. They may disapprove of crime in their own neighborhoods but when it's other ppl it feels like a video game and they identify with the bad guy. Then when somebody snitches, ppl with that mindset will see them as weak and think they would have done differently. Ultimately, they would all snitch bc they're just as weak and selfish civilians who would like to experience crime without the consequences.

First off Gene Deal doesn’t know what he’s talking about. 1.) Melvin Combs (R.I.P) never worked for NY Freddy (R.I.P). 2.) Melvin Combs wasn’t killed for being a rat. 3.) Melvin Combs was working with Willie JC Abram’s crew and Melvin was killed by Walter Grant. 4.) Walter was a bully and he had police ties. 5.) JC Abram, Walter Grant and JC’s girlfriend got arrested with over 20 pounds of dope. JC’s lawyer told him that there was an informant on the case and Walter used that as an excuse to Kill Melvin because allegedly Melvin was sleeping with a woman that Walter was dealing with and Walter was jealous. 6.) JC, Walter, JC’s girlfriend and 7 others were convicted at trial. At the trial the Judge told Walter “you murdered Melvin Combs who was an co defendant on this case and only for lack of evidence you can’t be charged with his murder”. 7.) The informant on the case was one of JC’s childhood friends. 8.) Melvin Combs was charged in the indictment but for his death he didn’t go to trial. 9.) Melvin Combs was a boss, he was apart of the Untouchables, which consisted of Nicky Barnes (R.I.P), Frank Matthews (R.I.P), Melvin Combs and Goldfinger. 10.) Walter Grant (R.I.P) died a horrible death in prison for what he did to Melvin. So for Gene Deal to sit up here and lie on a dead man is completely deplorable and it shows that a lot of what he says is for entertainment purposes only.

I don’t think the "like father, like son" adage applies in all situations, especially if the son was crib age when dad passed or if the dad was absent from a child’s life due to other reasons. Sometimes our kids watch us and do the exact opposite from how we would. I watched my mom be a crappy mom, which I believe made me a better mom than I might have been.

I wasnt going to comment but there are several points of this story that dont line up 1) He said he got a confession of Puffy's Dad of whats supposed to contain details of Freddy's operation. Now Puffy Dad was killed in his Cadillac in January 1972. If the cops/feds had details of Freddy's operation why would they wait 10 years later to bust Freddy and his crew. Freddy didn't get busted by the Feds until March 1982. Back in those days cops and feds did not play fair and more times that not they framed and planted evidence. I dont think they would have waited 10 years to finally bust Freddy if they already had the drop on him. Especially not back then. Almost all of the biggest dealers from that time were already taken out by the Feds almost 300 major players . Freddy was one of the last of his era to get busted. He should of got out while he was ahead. This leads to my 2nd question. 2) How is he tying Russell Simmons up in this? Saying Russell used to work for him and he was starting a record label? I dont think he knew Russell back then. He would had to met and been hanging out with Russell in 1980-1981 at the earliest being that he was in Federal custody since March 1982. In 1981 Run-DMC wasnt even a group until 1983-84. Russell was a college kid promoting park jams. Def Jam didnt start until late 1983-84. And he was not the founding member of DefJam records contrary to popular belief. The story is very sketchy so i dont believe it. This is just my personal opinion.

I've learned to never believe "nothing you HEAR & only HALF of what you see" & that motto goes double for listening to Gene Deal's tales !
@esseen1008 ай бұрын
Firstly if you listen Gene said that Freddy had a bunch of sub organizations under him as separate crews. Freddy was the plug for the crew that Melvin worked for. The investigation wouldn't have led to Freddy directly. It would have led to the guy that Melvin was working for. Secondly, Russell Simmons has been interested in the music industry since the mid to late seventies. He was at city college in '77 when he met Kurtis Blow. Freddie Myers was already established financially in the game, and was investing in things like record labels and promotions. It would make sense that Russell who was promoting Kurtis Blow as the backup DJ and MC for people like Grandmaster Flash and Hollywood in the late seventies to try to work with any financier of Music in the late seventies. Remember Kurtis Blow's "Christmas Rapping" was recorded in 1979 and came out right after "Rapper's Delight". So the years actually do line up.
