Released in November 1997, Diddy Kong Racing is a Mario Kart clone with boats, planes, and a story mode. It featured a roster of a bunch of characters made up on the spot, but nevertheless Rare would pick up a couple of them and give them their own series, including one of a decidedly different nature. JasonV12 I spent years playing this game...Funny story actually, when I was about 5 years old I was so dumb I decided to spray something into the cartridge compartment which somehow glitched the game and my N64 which gave us instant access to Future Funland, since we'd never beat Wizpig before, or the 4 racing bosses for that matter.

I never beat this game when I was a child. So 4 months ago when I got nostalgic over this game I figured I'm an adult, let me try to see how I do on this now. It should be a snap. Man was I wrong. I'm impressed by how well he drives. Just zooms through the entire course in ways I could never imagine. I have a lot of problems with this game's controls it frustrates the hell out of me. But this was an impressive run.

I beat it when it came out, I was a little kid, too. This game is easy in normal mode, even the hard mode isn't super hard. Adventure 2 on the other hand, is a real challenge but you can be forgiven for that. You could've just tried harder to beat Adventure 1. Or not use a bad character.

Toufool: "If you like Pipsy, sorry, she's the absolute worst. Bottom tier." You know what I found out just now that's really sad? Pipsy was my favorite character as a kid to play as, and I never knew she was the worst until just now. I didn't even know there was a difference between the character at all! I thought it was just personal preference to which character you liked the most, not stats. EDIT: But you know what else I found out? Now that I think about it, playing this game almost exclusively with Conker and Pipsy made it as if I was playing in a Hard Mode of sorts, and although I never beat the game, I did beat a good portion of it as a child.

strange; i ALWAYS used Pipsy whenever i play DKR, and i don't have any issues with the game. (aside from Wizpig 1 but that ones a clusterfuck.)

As the character with the lowest top speed in the game, it was natural that playing with Pipsi would be harder. Her handling is tops and her acceleration is as well alongside T.T.'s acceleration, but that doesn't matter if she can get passed at any time by any character, even with the Bananas you collect during the race. I always used Pipsy as a kid because she was easy to handle, but winning vs Advanced AI (hard mode) was never easy. Top speed matters, and therefore she's probably the exact opposite of what you need for a speedrun

Watching this again I realise just how well the quality of AGDQ stream improved in three years. Now the sound and video quality is far better and the room is way bigger, I cannot imagine just how hot it must be with so many people in such a small room.
