OH MY GOD, thank you!! I’ve been wanting to learn the pandeiro for a long time and I just got one for my birthday. Was looking for a introduction video since Im completely new to this instrument, been playing samba for many years but only surdo/surdiño and tamborim (which feels helpful here..). I thought there would be hard to find something that explained both how to tune it and how to play the basic rythm and then I found your video! You cover it all! Muito obrigado!! Will watch it many times and also check your other videos. I really like your way to explain and bring flavor from the start. Greetings from Suécia!

This is really *king cool. To begin with I thought you were just gonna talk a load of esoteric guff for about 5 minutes...but this was actually brilliantly explained & demonstrated. Thanks so very much for your generosity & knowledge about this man. I think it's fair to say that not only are you clearly a great musician, but you've got genuinely fine teaching skills too ... again thank you from the heart. I've always wanted to find out how pandeiro kind of works for years now. And this totally makes sense to me.

I finally got a replacment Pandeiro for the 8 inch pandeiro that a family member broke so many years ago. The one I have is 10 inches, and I have an 8 inch goathead I can order to replace the skin on the 8 inch. This video helped to remind me of the techniques I already know from tambourines to use on the pandeiro, like muting with the thumb, etc. I hope to get that smaller pandeiro re-skinned soon so that I tune it high and the bigger one low. Thanks so much for mentioning the oil! I live for thumb rolls, so I will have to get that oil!

I am from europe and learned to dance forro since 2012. Now that my friends gifted me a Pandeiro, I'll try to learn it so I can play atleast a couple of songs for me and my friends :) Thanks for this tutorial! Btw, how do you do that move at 11:17? Seems advanced to me or is that only possible with certain pandeiros?
