I wanted to ask someone if they bought an equity at a certain price. It was higher at the time, but I still couldn't decide whether I should use did you or have you in the question. Although the question 'Is the action still possible?' opens up a number of philosophical questions for me, I've decided that at that time it wasn't possible to buy the equity at that former lower price, so in the end I asked 'did you buy at X'. This was a great video with a clear and concise explanation. Thank you!
@beautifulbritishenglish2 жыл бұрын
Hi Planetary, yes you are correct to use DID in your question, because you were asking about an action at a specific time in the past. Past Simple is used to describe the time in the past, while 'have you bought', the Present Perfect focusses on the action.

@beautifulbritishenglish2 жыл бұрын
Yes, for He/She & It we need to remember to change the verb into the correct form. HAVE changes because it is being used in a Present Tense, but DO doesn't change because it is Past Simple. I haven't / I didn't You haven't / You didn't He/She/It hasn't / He/She/It didn't

What is the meaning of didn't do yet
@beautifulbritishenglish2 жыл бұрын
i would never say 'I didn't do it yet' because it doesn't sound natural. I didn't do it = this means something was not done and will not be done. I haven't done it (yet) = means you might still do it sometime in the future.
