Could you please clear my mind with this sentence. I wish I DIDN'T have to work tomorrow, unfortunately I do. Why the answer here is didn't and not wouldn't.. It is because the sentence is in conditional or what. Thanks in advance.

That's because when you use "wish" you must use the subjunctive mood, and the subjunctive mood is expressed using past simple. For example, "I wish I had more money." This is also the reason why people say "I wish I were there." and not "I wish I was there."

It suggests that the speaker is expressing a reluctance or unwillingness to perform a certain action under specific circumstances. 4) "didn't mean" explains that you wanted to express something different than what the listener understood.
