Brilliant, thanks for the tutorial 😊 how does smocking like this go in seams? Is there a special way to cut and sew it?

Hi there I haven't particularly tried that so please do share with the community if you master it...😉

so gorgeous! I have to try it. just a question, please: does the smocking make the fabric more stretchy?

I'm looking to nake some scaled smocking for a corset for a cosplay I'm making and this is so incredibly helpful, the first tutorial that didn't give me a headache! Thankyou!! How would this look if it was ironed? I love the scale texture but don't need the puffiness, alternatively do you have any reccomendations for a fairly beginner friendly pattern that might work better?
@didsburyartstudio8 ай бұрын
Hi there I know what you mean some of these patterns can seem daunting...ironing the pattern comes out just as nice! try the wave smocking for beginners...I've done a video in my smocking playlist for that. thanks🙏

Nice! I think it'd look rather fabulous if you'd make sleeves out of it with 1 flounced edge: It'd have a built-in shoulder pad. The hard square & soft flowy contrast would be quite interesting, no?

It really is lovely. Would it work in voile? I also wonder what it would look like using a half inch grid?
@didsburyartstudio3 жыл бұрын
Yes I know what you mean every time I do a video I'm think oh yeah what if I altered the scale or the fabric for another video. 🙂👍🏻 Lovely to hear from you...maybe I'll get change to do some more videos with your suggestions...or if you do DM my instagram with your pics.

I think that I have gone mad. I choose organza and a time consuming 1cm matrix. It is going to take me some time, but it is starting to form. It was an old top that I hadn't worn and I plan to insert the final piece into the back panel of denim jacket. Big project for a beginner, but I have to try. I love your craft room and wish that my cat was as well behaved near my work.
