It gets even better: The Steyr Valley Railway was the last railway in Austria to be operated exclusively and year-round with steam locomotives, for passenger and freight traffic, until 1982, when operations were discontinued. The first diesel locomotive only came onto the railway when it was already a museum railway, but these are used almost exclusively for work trains and for shunting, as constantly heating up a steam locomotive would be too timeconsuming and expensive…
