Endlich !!! We as steam-lovers should rather feel united by this example of love to ancient technology than diversed by our different tongues ! Steam on !!!

I love the fact that most swedes (with some talent for languages) automatically understand a whole lot of german just by listening. I guess that we belong to similar language familiy? "In my time" most pupils i Sweden got to choose from german or french in school as a "third language". I studied german for 5 years. I understand it really well but I don't speak it enough to be confident. :)

I wish my German was more up to date. I'd love to understand this. I know in the UK, the army kept quite a lot of steam locomotives serviceable in case of nuclear attack which would render the electrics of internal combustion engines useless.

adam9k9 Either in this or in the video about the recovery, they said the Swedish B-Series was based on the Prussian P-8 (Prussia was most of Germany before world war one). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussian_P_8 (I couldn't find an article about the swedish one) So, they look quite similar indeed. :-)

1. KZbin is free and you can watch whatever you fucking like. I clicked on the video to see what it was about. 2. The video is in german i think and german and sweedish steam trains look very similar. I would not be surprised if sweeden had prurchased trains from germany in the past. And thus the trains being very similar.

Yes since then english is the world dominating language. Another drawback is we still have to live with their oldfashioned unit system. Fahreinheit, inch, pounds and so on. The americans still live in the 1800's.

Celsius is too weird for me compared to Fahrenheit. Fahrenheit is also a German name. Was the Fahrenheit temperature scale invented in Germany? I'm used to 100 degrees being hot and 0 degrees being sub-freezing, not 32 degrees being hot and 0 degrees being at the point of freezing. Being a US citizen, I'm too used to miles, Fahrenheit, inches, feet, pounds, etc. although we in the US also use liters for soda bottles, grams for food, and science and medical fields use metric. I also love steam.

Dude, English was spoken on all continents long before the invention of moving pictures. Also, if the British weren't so keen on empire building, Hollywood would have been Spanish-speaking. And the rest of what is now the USA would have been Dutch and French. And a bit Swedish.
