This is literally a game changer. No more need to use urethane clear coat, which can be pretty rough on an airbrush. I never thought I'd see a water-based clear coat with that kind of shine.

Austin, the one thing I admire about you (besides your god given talent and sense of humor) is that you don't mind giving advice to newcomers and you certainly absorb advice from one who may not be as talented nor have the type of set up that you have. You are truly a credit to all of these wannabes (me) and all of those that may or may not have those assets. Great going man!!!!!!

Thx for the heads up D-Res. I’ll hafta give it a try on the sweet 16 series I’m restoring. I have a good system that produces excellent results but it’s like a 4 step process and uses 3 different products plus the soapy water and it takes way more time than this new way you found!

Wonder if that would work great on UV damaged vehicle headlight lens?
@DiecastResurrection2 жыл бұрын
For that I would use 2k urethane, it will be way more durable to rock chips and such. The UVLS would probably work though, just might not last long.

Hello @diecastresurrection, I know this video is a year old but I had a few questions. The UVLS seems to have done an amazing job on the body - did you continue to use it because I think on your channel you might still use 2K clears? I also noted you kind of free-handed the ratio, though the data sheet suggested a 20-25% reduction but I think it worked out better since we're painting smaller items? Do you know what your ratio might be closer to? Is it closer to 1:1 or still about 60 clear:40 reducer. The Data sheet also suggest letting it sit with the reducer for about 15 minutes but curious if you sprayed right after your own ratio mix since it seems it reduced the viscosity entirely? Did you let it sit for 15 minutes between coats? I do 1:24 scale but am looking to replace 2k and this looks like it came out great. Additionally, it seems that the high gloss uvls can also work great on clear parts? Future floor polish is no more so I was also looking to find a replacement for that as well. Have you continued to use the high gloss UVLS from createx?
@opticaltrace43822 жыл бұрын
I'm wondering if that would be good on actual car headlights. You know when the plastic gets UV damage from the sun and goes cloudy

as a matter of fact it is. this is exactly how I restore them on original lens for old cars and new ones. better than new. just make sure use enough coats.
@hhaste11 ай бұрын
It would work but it won't last long. You'd want to use a 2K clear for automotive related things, so it can withstand the abuse and weather.

Do you mind if i ask what mix ratio you used on the 4053, im struggling with it. And what PSI did you spray at
@BennyCFD Жыл бұрын
There is no mix ratio, or correct PSI because everything is different. Some people use a 0.3, and up to a 0.5 needle. Some people use 18 to maybe 35 PSI, so the correct ratio would be different for everybody. you would have to experiment with whatever you're your setup is. Buy some plastic spoons..................................................
@tonyduffey1965 Жыл бұрын
I am spooned out, I have mixed, I had raised, lowered PSI. I have watched a 1000 videos. I have tried every size needle, tip, mini touch up gun and CAN NOT get the 4053 to gloss at all. Future floor polish shines better. Was just looking for a general idea of what the video maker might have used is all.

Might be a good call as opposed to promoting the dangerous isocyanate-based 2K clears, if you are not already using the NISO products.
@animalyze71202 жыл бұрын
That whole Future floor polish nastiness has been in the model hobby far longer than it ever should have. It's a cheap unprofessional side step that produces exactly what you'd expect, cheap results with belief that it's a God send. 1k clears are cheap and will produce better results, of course anything with UV protection will prevent yellowing. This stuff creatix made is great for models and far less toxic for indoor use than 2k or higher clears with similar results, Of course real 2k+ clears will last longer in rough use but for models this creatix stuff should be perfect.
@DiecastResurrection2 жыл бұрын
You forgot to mention 2k clears will melt and ruin all plastic windshields that aren't made from poly.
@javierspilere825711 ай бұрын
The whole nastiness of Future will be in the hobby for a long time as long as there is no product with such a high value. Professional, award winning modelers of all kind still use it. I’ve been looking for a future replacement and I will give UVLS a try, but future so far has been excellent and paying $40 for 16oz of something that does the same job doesn’t look attractive.
