LOL! Adam catches some sweet kelp and a small rock on the other end. "Unfortunately, too small, so we're gonna have to let him go. But maybe we'll catch him again when he's a keeper. Thanks for the fight!" I'm dying. That was great.

Word was thee was some White Sea- bass around Capitola here on 8-7 . So-Cal wise you guys just hit it a bit early, it went off 7-18 to 7-28 Mirage Sport fishing had limits of White Sea-bass on a huge squid bite. Other local boats reported wide open bites loading up as well but they were mid grade fish not all huge croakers. Lure wise lucky you that octopus lure runs near $30.00 a piece.

@ messy fishermen This particular location has halibut in the 30-40 lb range and there are a few spots where they can run you into snags. Lighter shows sportsmanship for sure but sometimes when the halibut are huge you have to run the heavier rods. Know of a 39, 37, and 4 other above 30 taken in this area this year. I live 5 miles down the coast of this spot .
@messyfisherman41404 жыл бұрын
@@jimbo4612 im not saying that every one needs to use a lighter rods im just saying the a lighter rod many times leads to a more natural presentation and that is the reason for that rod being more lucky than others he uses
@jimbo46124 жыл бұрын
@@messyfisherman4140 In general would agree that natural presentation is the best for a lot of fishing but just wanted to mention that this area offers some really large halibut and also some snags where they run into and get wrapped up . The other reason for a heavier stick is that August is White Sea bass season in this area with some nice ones taken on 8-07. Best luck on the fishing to you and yours

I'm a bit confused by the ink feature on that lure. If I'm remembering correctly, the ink is more than just a distraction, there is some evidence it may be an irritant to the chemical sensors on predator fish. So, why would having a lure with "actual octopus ink" be a good thing? I would think just having the lure contain a clear octopus scent would be better, no?

I was thinking that too. It might attract them tho. Fish could prolly see it. Maybe makes it more natural

|Ink sac in octopus lure seems like a marketing ploy . Legs of octopus will entice any fish to bite , not ink .
@dylanearnshaw87834 жыл бұрын
The gimmick with the ink is that it also has octopus scent in it which helps but like you said the tentacles and action of the jig would already entice predatory fish to bite so there wouldn’t be much point paying for extra ink sacs

CA Outdoorsmen, be aware, read carefully, take note & share. Write to your leaders and let them know if you are opposed to this Bill. 30% of state waters will close. Primarily, where natural streams & rivers flow into the ocean ie: along the western sides of the Coastal Ranges. That includes much of the Central Coast of CA. Areas that stay open will likely be the coastlines of more populated areas. Why,? Because these larger metro areas are where people of lower-income and minorities are located. Keep in mind that we have already lost a lot of coastlines with all of the "Marine Protection Areas." These areas were promised to re-open after 5 years. When time was up, the state simply changed its mind and made them permanent closures. leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201920200AB3030

Locally I fought the MPA actions going to meetings and giving data to a Obama panel. Also wrote for the the Western Outdoor news regarding MPS Closures. We kept a majority of our local water open here around Capitola but i do recall Recall Schwarzenegger stating he was in favor of anglers then turned his back on us so YAH!!! always a threat with corrupt Agencies associated with Water rights using smoke and mirror tactics. Losing Caption Rodger Thomas to cancer in 2017 hurt bad! He had a voice that the water boys listened to!

Why do so many people yank to set the hook? Just pull pressure. Yanking loses more fish than building pressure without a quick yank.

Maybe you have had this suggestion before, but gaffs are dangerous on a regular boat. You're really asking for it with that on a yak. Maybe consider a harpoon instead.
