These guys are awesome. When they say call and they will help you out they mean it. I called to ask about what to look for in buying a used truck and the guy I talked to was super helpful and very friendly. I'm very glad I called because I was looking at a different style truck and they gave me some great information. I have since purchased a truck and can't wait to start adding some PDD components. Once again thanks guys for all your help and advice. Hopefully someday we will be able to make the trip out there to see your place in person. Curious do you all have anything planned for the 68rfe?

Really great video! Also, phenomenal to see the divider in the steedspeed manifold sealing up against the wastegate valve. We've fabricated many manifolds (4g63) with a single but divided path to the wastegate, and saw a significant loss in response and boost threshold with even a small path for cross talk without the full divider. Good stuff

Always look forward to the Power Driven videos. Even though exhaust manifolds are not always directly related to more power in the overall recipe, it's a critical upgrade once a certain power level is achieved. Even for the seasoned diesel enthusiast, this video is a great refresher as to why we spend our hard earned money on such upgrades.

Twin scroll turbo exhaust manifold and turbo inlet also stop pressure starvation. With each exhaust valve opens it's creates pressure pulses and cycles of higher and lower air pressure when the valve closes that pressure pulse can go backwards. When you get up to higher rpms your getting more pressure pulses and higher chances of that pressure wanting to go backwards. With the twin scroll it eliminates this

Spot on. Unfortunately the EGR ports severely disturb the exhaust flow and the pressure pulses whether they’re blocked off or with egr intact.

just my 2 cent thoughts. please correct me if I'm wrong. ok. The 2nd gen swap on 3rd gen is a big plus in my book. equal runner lengths throughout the firing ordet should balance the "pulse". that balance should help pull heat away from the problematic back three cyliders. in theory should create a smoother exhaust flow witch possibly could help with spool up. to me it's not necessarily a HP thing but an efficiency / support thing. plus on compounds things just fit better with less piping. I've seen multiple mild tune towing trucks die due to heat in 4 and 5 on 3rd gen. never seen that in 2nd gen truck. So a 2nd gen swap just makes sense to me. thanks todd

Hi, I have a 460whp stock fueled 110k mile 03 6 speed with a Smarty, Raptor lift pump, 3250DD clutch and a s366 that I removed to pass emissions. Now that I've moved to a place that doesn't test do you think I would see a noticeable difference in spool up by upgrading the exhaust manifold when I go to re-install it in addition a turbine blanket or do you think I should continue to save my money for other stuff like fueling mods, custom tuning or stock/s400 compounds? Thanks

Thanks for your videos. I am just learning about the b series. You say broken ears know the head? I dont see any Ears on the head. Now cast iron exhaust manifolds can break ears. That 3 piece manifold cam out in the 50,s on 855 cummins 14 liter engine. Never seen on of those break ears. The head studs are a loose fit in the holes on the manifold, so they can move longutudily!

I take it by diverter valves you mean like a quick spool valve. Splitting the scrolls in a turbo. Have you had much success with them? We use them in the merc diesel tuning scene and have had 800-1000 rpm quicker spool times. And less restriction than a true twin scroll manifold

and another thought. how does going from t3 to t4 effect spool?? t4 you gain volume but loose velocity. and in a compound set up with 362/363 with 475/480.
@JosephArata
@JosephArata 5 жыл бұрын
You do loose exhaust velocity. You'd need a larger camshaft, head work done, and valve springs to spin up past 4,000 Rpm to run larger exhaust housing compound turbos. Typically though, S362 with S475 shouldn't need that.

ok. my thought on 3rd gen to 2nd gen ex man swap is not neccasarily performance but it is at the same time.... equal runner length equally diveded should give a more iniform exhaust pressure, more equal ex temps and supply a more even "pulse" to the turbo. while hp numbers may not go up...efficiently (spool) should and really help with 3rd gen problems of killing #4 & 5 pistons. would love your feedback
