Thanks again for your response, one last question, can i use Gasoline fuel pressure tester, to test the LOW side diesel pressure, again low side NOT high side. I can understand that high side cant be tested, but can i use snap on fuel pressure guage to test low side of diesel engines.

Thanks so much for your response. very helpful. I heard Bosch, Denso, Delphi, and siemens are the common rail diesel developers and manufacturers just customize it to their standards. is it true.?. I heard about cummins as well, do they belong to 4 types i mentioend above, or they are sepearte

That sounds just about right. I don't think Cummings manufactures injectors. Always assume when doing diagnostics that there are slight differences between them. So, the specs are not going to match. Reference the OEM specs when diagnosing just like any other system. The manufacturer is not relevant. WHat matters is the application or make and model. Thanks for posting.

Well, even on other Bosch systems the specs may change. Remember, Bosch usually develops the systems, but then manufacturers license the technology and change it a bit to accommodate their systems. For PSI to voltage you'll need the chart for each make and model.

hi how do we know what voltage in rail pressure sensor corresponds to PSI. For instance you said 1.5 volts is 4000 psi at idle. This is for BOSCH, similary different manufacturer have different voltage for different PSI is that right?.

It depends on the gauge. Most SO will reach 160PSI, but I advice a dedicated Diesel gauge. It's not a good idea to mix fuels. You're better off spending a bit of money for the long run. You don't have to buy SnapOn though...Good luck.

Could fuel pressure sensor issues cause CAN bus connection problems when faulty (wiring problems/supply problems)? Renault Laguna II 2005 dCi 1.9 computer returns P0089 (fuel pressure) fault randomly causing the car not to start or immediately shut down after the problem occurs. It seems like injectors work fine with proper pressure, but the sensor somehow invokes a major fault and at that time it's impossible to even connect to ECU via ODB2 interface. When the problem is gone for a few seconds at least, the connection works properly and the car starts. Wondering if I could blame fuel pressure sensor fault for that.

It's possible that the fuel pressure sensor is killing the network. However, I doubt that it is now possible in 2019. These issues were possible 15 years ago, not not today. Now, when the issue us happening, check sensor power (probably 5 volts) and ground. Go from there and let me know how that test out. Thank you, Mandy.

If the electrical circuit checked out how would you know weather it was the sensor or a hydraulic problem many thanks

A bit more complicated, these injectors. Are PWM pulsed. See these two links with picks. www.autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com/DIY_Hobby_Sets.html www.autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com/GDI_CRDI_Direct_Injector_Tester.html

No check engine light. But fuel pressure drops at 2000psi when warm. The pressure when neawly start is at 6000psi. Mechanic told me the fuel pressure sensor was faulty. But i think its the suction control valve. Could i be right?

He's probably right, FP Sensor is a more likely culprit.

hi, i have a hyundai starex crdi with a code p0191 or low pressure o fuel rail, e mechanic told me to change the fuel rail sensor, when i did change the fuel rail sensor wit a new one when i started it. it will not start and when it was scan it shows code p0193 or fuel rail high , ca you help me whats wrong with my car thank you
