The earlier TWR Diesel is great, but the all time best Diesel is the ERTL version. The most difficult to find is the Thomas Adventures Diesel and I see online its selling MIB for hundreds of dollars. I never saw an individual Thomas Adventures Diesel. Mind you Thomas Adventures was a very short lived Thomas toy line. I never understood why it was taken away so fast.

I think these types of videos are my favorite that you make, Chase. Just seeing all the changes being made from beginning to end of a specific character or other product is fascinating to me, and most are very reflective of the times in both the franchise itself and the world in general. Personally, nostalgia speaking, I prefer the original 1994 and the 2005 Diesels the most.

As someone from the UK, I can remember the Brio line of Thomas Wooden Railway, though I never collected them, (I was more of an ERTL kid), but I remember some of them in the Creche I used to go in when my mother was shopping.

I think the reason why the 2017 and Wood Diesels have that curved shape near their base is so the body and base can be produced as one part, whereas before they were two separate parts. Basically, it's a cost-cutting measure.

They got rid of the widow's peak in 2002. However, they still produced most of the models, that had one, with the same shape widow's peak, but it's not sticking out like before. Then Learning curve offically got rid of the widow's peak design in 2003.

Well done keekre I enjoyed this very much. I seriously wish learning curve had made a devious smiling face for diesel during the model series era. I own a 2000 model but I took off his face and replaced it with his 2005 one. Since his nose was pretty flat, and looked like Michael Jackson. Still hoping for a review on Diesel 10, fingers crossed!!

The Devious Diesels I have in my collection are one from 1996, two regular ones from the Fisher-Price era (one came in a 2-car pack with a freight car and a road barrier, the other came with the Dieselworks Figure 8 Set), one snow-covered model that came with the Dustin and the Sodor Storm Team book pack, the Battery-operated model, and a fully-painted milk-covered one from the Thomas Wood Diesel's Dairy Drop-off Pack. If I get a regular Wood Devious Diesel, I'm probably going to paint it to look like Ulli, the Mainland Diesel Shunter from The Great Race and Journey Beyond Sodor.
@Rexeljet4 жыл бұрын
I want to say the Brio one is my favourite, but I'm biased since I grew up with that one! The red buffer beam on Learning Curve's later releases definitely enhances the look of the toy though I'm surprised that none of the wooden Diesels ever went with his classic devious grin- To me that face _is_ Diesel, plus it's the perfect compromise in that it's technically a smiling face (unlike the old faces), but still manages to convey Diesel's personality (unlike the newer faces). When it comes to Diesel merch nowadays it often feels like we can only have two faces- grumpy, or cheery. I think a good middle ground would be to take the happy face and make the eyes and mouth asymmetrical, giving him a more scheming look.

I find it odd that my TWR diesel from y childhood (a 2005 one) had more paint chips than any other Wooden train I had. I was used to take along having some scratches, but not a TWR engine. Even as a kid, I liked that Diesel didn't have a happy face. That gives you the thought that "This character isn't a happy character like the rest". It's a shame they didn't do that to George the steamroller in TWR. I wouldn't mind if the happy Diesel was a multi-pack exclusive like the Take Along happy Diesel 10.

I like the designs when 2003 started until like 2009-2010. My reasoning is, I don't mind the CGI series or CGI style designs on the toys, it's just what I personally prefer. Because, I really enjoyed the model series of the show. And especially seasons 1-5 and 6-ish. I like the older styles and characters. The only part of CGI I like is their own original characters from the CGI starting point. I also like the character comebacks. And when the toys are released. They do look more detailed, like extremely detailed. Hopefully when more older characters from seasons 2-12 make their comebacks, they can make those characters into toys and more detailed. I have hopes that the series will bring back older favorties in the future.

I don't know. I do like diesel it may sound crazy but I still don't own a wooden railway diesel I've been meaning to get one for a while but I haven't decided which one I want to get yet. But if I'm being completely honest I think the best variations of diesel are the Brio one old style diesel and the new style diesel but I think the best diesel out of all of them has to be the Brio one. Put a wooden railway chassis on it and I think it would look like an official with diesel toy. Anyways great video Thomas Wooden Railway do you think you could do the evolution on Oliver.

My Thoughts on the WR Diesels (as in Diesel) Original Diesel: Neat 2003-2010 Diesel: Really Grumpy :) 2011-2012 Diesel: Very accurate expression. 2013 Diesel: it's fine in my book. 2017 Diesel: a little unfinished :/ 2018 Wood Diesel: fatal fail (like all 2018 models) 2019 Wood Diesel: basic, but is a bit of an improvement, that same should be about Rusty. Brio Diesel: I never had Brio Thomas engines, despite playing with a Talking Thomas in Sweden, but it's a very fantastic representation of Diesel, and especially the face piece.

To be honest, I really like wooden variants of Diesel where the only colors are black and white. For some reason I really like black bufferbeams on Diesel. So, my favorite wooden variants of Diesel are the BRIO version, the early - 2017 version, and the 1996 version. However, my favorite of the lot would probably be the BRIO one. As a bonus, here is a ranking of all the wooden Diesel variants (best to worst) : 1. BRIO Diesel 2. 1996 Diesel 3. Early - 2017 Diesel 4. 2003 Diesel 5. 2011 "TOMY" Diesel 6. 2013 Diesel 7. Wood Diesel 8. Wood "Unfinished" Diesel
