Bill Malec This test simply shows that a a few drops of BG treats more than Power Service or Howes. BG is more efficient and requires less to treat more fuel. This test is just to show that the user there is no need to "over treat" and that each ounce of BG treats more fuel than each ounce of competitors treatment.

Luke Johnson You are correct! Power Service is a good product and will absolutely prevent gelling up! However it will take more Power Service to treat the same amount of diesel fuel than BG. 1 quart of BG DFC+ will treat 250 gallons of fuel. As you can see in the video it treats more with less. BG DFC+ also helps clean fuel systems and includes lubricity. Careful not to over treat with Power Service, it may not have enough lubricity...

I also used it on my 2008 F350 with the 6.4 motor. Same results. Maybe other products are better, but for sure you can't go wrong with power service.
@MerzFarmEquip7 жыл бұрын
That is an awesome habit to use a product at every fill up goes a long ways to protecting engines! Power Service is a great product. We used it for years! However for the newer Tier 4 engines with tighter tolerances for high pressure common rail systems it is important to maintain lubricity. BG has enough lubricity to keep the proper lubricity in the injection pump.

Clinton Graham This test shows that a a few drops of BG treats more than Power Service or Howes. BG is more efficient and requires less to treat more fuel.
@clintongraham72267 жыл бұрын
That may be so. Maybe not. I cringe at the 'term' efficient. You may have made the formulation more concentrated allowing you to put less in per application. That's all fine, but there are treat scenarios that require a more dilute product. For instance, a product more dilute in solvent is more likely to disperse well and flow in cold temperatures. What is most troubling here is that you equate nitrogen level with detergency concentration/effectiveness. Could it be that different detergent chemistries have variable nitrogen contents? Only testing in an engine test will show which molecule performs best and I see no engine test claims here. . DW10B? DW10C? XUD9? Not even the old L10? Only engine testing will show the true efficiency of the product at preventing or cleaning up deposits, reduction of emissions, or increase of fuel efficiency. Also, nitrogen is not specific to the detergent component. For instance a cetane improver will have nitrogen in it. You can formulate your product with some cetane improver and that will raise your nitrogen level. You may not be providing more detergncy, but have a cetane improver that is not a part of another product and show superiority in this test. Additive customers. Decide what you want to do with your fuel and and the conditions in which you may use the product and look for the best product that will do everything you ask of it. Don't be fooled by dog and pony shows that don't back themselves up with industry testing.
@MerzFarmEquip7 жыл бұрын
Clinton Graham You are correct. We could have messed with concentrations and fixed the results. BUT we are just a couple guys that sell farm machinery, we aren't scientists and won't claim to be. We don't know how to change the results. We just used eye droppers from our local vet store and diesel treatment from the local auto shops. We simply put drops of products in diesel fuel that we took from our tank in our shop. Simple test at a local level. We didn't show all the manufacturers test results because that's what they are paid to do. We aren't. We are just some simple guys showing this in a simple real world test. If you want industry training use the manufacturers tests, BG has them available. So this "Dog & Pony Show" is just a simple real world test. Not designed to show in Chemistry class at Harvard or anyone wearing a white collar. Just showing farmers, truck drivers, machinery operators that don't even have collars on the majority of our shirts!

@merz farm equipment You say that the power service product is straight rubbing alcohol, however power service says that the product contains no alcohol. I'm no product fan boy and have never been one to use fuel or oil additives unless it was a necessary treatment at the time. But it's just plain wrong for you to make false claims against power service. That one outright lie in this video kills any legitimacy that you may have otherwise had.
@MerzFarmEquip7 жыл бұрын
@ringram0790 - Sorry you feel that way. What we are meaning to show with that statement is the lubricity of the product. We have seen injection pumps from Tier 4 engines fail because of the lack of lubricity. Those same injection pumps had Power Service being used. This is what we have seen. It is simply our opinion and we respect your opinion. We do have a right to state what we have seen. If we have seen this it is 100% true and in no way a "false statement". As an authorized dealer for machinery we recommend using BG in our products. We have seen different products used and we have seen what can happen using any of these products. Therefore because of our experience and history of working on products we have chosen to make these recommendations.If you feel otherwise, we respect your opinion. You are free to use whatever product you would like in your machinery. However if you bring a piece of machinery with a Tier 4 engine to our service department with injection pump issues and have used Power Service it will not be covered by our warranty.

Merz Farm Equipment I agree that lubricity is important. However, what you said and what you claim to mean are two completely different things. "...It's basically straight rubbing alcohol that's in that power service..." Stating that straight rubbing alcohol is in their product is a blatantly false claim. I don't know that much about any of these products, but I do know that telling everyone that power service is straight rubbing alcohol is a lie and you're wrong for doing that.

Agree to Disagree, and that is perfectly fine. You can interpret it that way and We apologize if you did not understand our comparison. When we start a comment with "It's basically" we are trying to show the similarities between. "It is basically" is like us saying "It is like"I would be happy to watch your video in which you show how much difference there is between rubbing alcohol and Power Service. If you would like to create content I would be happy to watch. You are 100% entitled to your opinion and we are ours. Again our apologizes on you misunderstanding what we were saying. Merz Farm Equipment I understand the comparison now that you've clarified. However, what you said and what you meant were two very different things and that's very misleading. I come from a training and line of work where you say what you mean, doing otherwise often costs a lot of time, money, work and can potentially put people's safety at risk. It would probably be a good idea to add a caption/pop up at that point of the video to clarify what you mean when you say that.
