Trucks like this were made to do work. The fact that it will actually do what it does against vehicles that were literally built to go fast, is really cool. Sure it’s forte isn’t going 155 miles per hour over 20 miles, but it’s a really cool toy that obviously catches a lot of people off guard. Nice truck!

I know this video is 4 yrs old but after 1st seeing it 2 yrs ago inspired me to get my truck. It will never be an "Ivan" truck but I'm slowly making my progress to it. It's a 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3L V8. I put new plugs and wires, K&N intake, JETT performance MAF sensor. Last week I purchased Diablo i3 Tuner and tuned my truck. @@prandomable It’s not cause it’s a diesel, it’s cause it’s a TRUCK that has a low geared rear end in it so it can pull a trailer. Most 6-speed pickup trucks are in 6th gear before they hit 55 mph, so yeah, 155 mph in a low geared pickup truck may be a little difficult. That Viper would eventually pass this Duramax, cause the Viper has a way higher top speed. Duh. Considering the modifications this particular truck has, it very well could have higher speed diff’s in it. Now, if I wanted a sports car, and could get a diesel powered one spec’d similar to a Tesla, I personally would take the diesel every day of the week. So long as the diesel wasn’t plugged up with a particulate filter and NOX filter. All this being said, that Duramax is pretty impressive, even though the race with the Viper was likely staged.

@@lnpipeline3306 any cars that can do 150 MPH can easily eventually pass this pickup truck I'm pretty sure. Pickup trucks are heavy and very un-aerodynamic. Dodge RAM SRT-10 does 155 MPH bone stock. That truck is much lighter and lower to the ground as well so it's also bit more aerodynamic. Older generation single cab Ford Ranger weighs only 3,000 lb curb weight. That's even lighter than a lot of the sedans/cars.

I Love fast LB7's! Maybe some day, I'll do a full socal diesel build, SDP already built my trans, but it's only got 45% SAC injectors and arp head studs, for longevity, everything else stock. I picked up my 2002 crew cab short box in 2012, for a Snowmobile trailer hauler, for the Wa. Cascades.

I'll keep my LB7 for life, no desire to deal with all the electronics, and emissions junk on new ones. Will use an lml block eventually though, unless they figure out how to make l5p short blocks, work with lb7 heads.

Compound Turbos? So Like 120lb of Boost? Like 9 Bar- 10 Bar of Boost? That is NOT Twin Turbos for Twin Turbos are Two Turbos Both Feeding the Engine and Compound Turbos is One Big Turbo Feeding a Smaller Turbo That Feeds the Engine. Twin Turbos you won't See over 45lb of Boost but with Compound Turbos you can Easy hit 120lb Boost. I've Seen a Lot of Piston Rods Brake and Go Through the Block on Compound Turbo Setups
