Bell housing is different. Input shaft bearing retainer is different too! A bit shorter. If you get the retainer Brand new for 80$ and a bell housing you can use it

@@francesconapoli1292 yeah, that bell housing is not from a B engine. The B engines all have the starter on the other side.

Torque Test Channel have recently done a video where they measure the clamping force on dry, clean bolts vs bolts lubricated with anti-seize (pretty much copper grease to an extent) The dry bolts, for 100 ft lb applied, were almost bang on 100 ft pounds of clamping, the lubricated one were showing close to 200 ft lb for 100 ft lb of torque applied. Most of the tightening specs have a built in margin for the friction of the threads, by eliminating this friction won`t there be excess plastic deformation on the threads? Amazing job with everything you do! (The TTC video is called "You're Using a Torque Wrench Wrong: MythBusting 10 Do's & Dont's" , and it`s the 9th thing they show/demonstrate).

There is 10.19.21 spline input shafts and diffrent bellhousings but the one with 10 splines is for early 60serie h55f and 40 series and 70 series has 21 splines from -88 same as toyota dyna 19 splines for the hz1 engine in the newer 70 series landcruiser with the h55f gearbox

The shown H55F has a bellhousing after 1984 that fits to late 2H and basically all 12H-T in a HJ61. It has no whole on the upper half and it is twisted about 5° compared to the old pre 1984 bellhousing (the drain whole is not aligned with the lower screw of the input shaft housing). However the kit is still compatible to all 2H and 12H-T engines. But it will not fit on the 1HZ bellhousing since it is bigger on the engine-site. The adapter may be changes. A big benefit on the 1HZ-bellhousing is that it fits a 300mm clutch ☝🏻 (B and bellhousings fit only 275mm) It might not fit on the BJ-housing (I am not shure about that, so please confirm if you know) H55F fitted in to a 1HZ and or 3B have 21 splines on the input shaft. But discs are available in all spline variants with the different diameters. I suggest changing the adapter kit to the bellhousing that fits between a 1HZ and H55F (HZJ75 between 1990 and 2000). The bellhousing also fits to all other H41 and H55F transmissions, only input shaft and its inputbearing need to be changed to fit it. As mentioned before it is possible to fit a 300mm clutch with more than 1100Nm of tourque 😏

I believe that is a 2H H55 bellhousing, which is backward compatible with the H41/42 4-speed transmissions, but not the B series diesels. The Toyota 10 spline shaft shown is shared with the 2H and 2F (anecdotally, with various Chevrolet transmissions).The market would be ripe for a 2F kit though, and you already know the hydraulics are compatible, making an adapter to the Chevy Stovebolt style would be the only thing to change in the kit.

Yes, finding the right bell housing is important, gearbox stay the same. Can be used 3b bell housing or 2H bell housing as it is the same.

@@FishyEngineer420 Yes, for most manual land cruisers, the only thing that is changed is the engine, bell housing, and input shaft/ clutch assembly. So, if your transmission was previously mated to an F engine, it would need a H series bellhousing to work with this kit.

Which H55 input shaft? There are a few configurations. Toyota still makes this trans new and it is a popular upgrade for the 40 series, something I’d love to do to my FJ40 with a diesel conversion

How about a 2007 & up Tundra, automatic, I could use an adapter for real. It would solve my indecisiveness about what’s best for this 606 I have and allow me to get the best use out of it. After all the fuel mileage is the biggest issue with these trucks for sure.

I have a 3b with a h55 and the bellhousing and input shaft is completely different it’s 21 spline and the slave and starter mount on the opposite side of the bellhousing ? Are you sure this is a 3b bellhousing and transmission

This gearbox came out from a BJ73 and it’s compatible with 2B , 3B and the turbo version 3BT . Gearbox is the same for many models including petrol en diesel. Input shaft is 10 splines and is the same one for the loved fj40 and 60. The 21 splines shaft was introduced to Match the 1HZ engines and its found in the HZJ73 -74- 75 pick up Bell housings vary depending the engine model. If you’re getting this adapter kit for your car just make sure you have the 10 splines output shaft and the 3B bell housing. (Easy to find in eu)

I think they got kit for older V6 4runner with 3vze and in prado with the 5vz the block is the same so it should work

The h55f has many different bell housings for the different engines and also different splines with different lengths of inputshafts. So I suspect that this kit will only work with the gearbox setup thats in the video content.
