Ron, I just wanted to thank you for your excellent videos. One video you did, you admitted a mistake you made (something you missed the first time you looked over the engine). I knew right then you are an excellent mechanic. A lesser mechanic would NEVER have admitted a mistake, let alone make a video about it so everyone could learn from it. I am a much better mechanic because of you. You should get a Bluetooth mic which clips onto your shirt. I see lots of KZbin contributors using them. God bless.

Another fine video. I found out the hard way yesterday to use Motorcraft. I changed my filters with napa filters. The truck ran for a few minutes and then ran out of fuel and quit. No fuel in the upper filter. I feared the worst (fuel pump). I took the lower filter out and re installed it, nothing, and I could hear the pump running. I went to Orielly's to get a motorcraft filter. After install, I turned the key on and instantly fuel appeared. I have used aftermarket filters before, but no more on the 6.0.

On my '05 F350 It's a 35mm socket for the lower fuel filter cap. Also - note that if you do open the 6mm allen on the water/diesel separator it will continue to drain for quite awhile until you close it.

I was told that the vent hole and membrane were important. The membrane on the OEM helps with water separation in cooler, and temperature changing climates.

Thanks for all the GREAT Video's Ron. Quick question for you on the top fuel filter. I've only ever used the original Ford replacement filters and have noticed the past few times I've changed them that even with the engine off (overnight) when I remove the upper fuel filter cap I can hear pressure being released. Is that normal?

ill agure with anything after market when it comes to clean fuel... if they say 4 microns is required, yes going to a 2 micron sounds better right? cept for its going to be lowering the supply to pump and injectors which equals a little less return rate! least thats how i feel i say OEM all the way with oil and fuel filters

Why chance aftermarket filters I don't I never have and never had issues use factory Ford filters and be done with it end of story. Here in BC Canada a 5 gallon pail of 5w-40 Delo 400 costs me 144 dollars, a oil filter from Ford is 30 dollars, fuel filters are 97 dollars. Did both on my truck 2 weeks ago I'm good for another 6 months. The Rotella T6 costs 235 dollars for 5 gallons so I use Delo been using it for 6 years or more. I keep my fuel tank over half full so I never run into condensation issues and I only buy my fuel from 2 places.

On 05 Excursion you can get filter wrench on . You have to double up on extensions or like he uses a 24 inch . That must be a 2wheel drive cuz 4 wheel the shaft and transfer case would be right there with a small window to work in . There for use extenson to get you beyond crossmember but upon removal your ratchet head will back up against transfer case. . 270000 miles 3 sets of injectors oil change every 8000 10000 miles .when it runs it runs like a raped ape . When it is sick I want to drive it thru Ford's front window
