Hashimoto's thyroiditis, also recognized as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, stands as the leading cause of hypothyroidism in regions with adequate iodine levels, embodying an autoimmune disorder where the immune system erroneously attacks the thyroid gland. This assault leads to inflammation and subsequent damage to thyroid cells, diminishing their ability to produce thyroid hormones and resulting in symptoms of hypothyroidism such as fatigue, weight gain, intolerance to cold, constipation, dry skin, hair loss, and depression. In some cases, this condition prompts the thyroid gland to enlarge, forming a goiter, though this is not universally present. Diagnosis typically relies on blood tests revealing elevated thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels and antibodies against thyroid peroxidase (TPO antibodies), alongside thyroid ultrasound imaging that can depict the gland's characteristic changes due to this disease. Treatment primarily involves managing the symptoms of hypothyroidism, often through hormone replacement therapy.

Sir pls reply I visited a doctor near me who charged me rs 1400 he talked politely asked my problem and said to revisit after 20 days he recommended some medicine and costly tests neither he or his p.a gave notice that i will be charged again on revisit i requested today to give appointment but they didn't listen what should i do sir I'm a student I'm very much depressed by this 😢😢

Beta every doctor has their protocol for follow up charges. Some doctors like us don't charge on follow up visit for imaging reports review. Others do.
