I've also just quit long term vegan/vegetarian lifestyle (total 44 years). It's absolute poison, especially these vegan fake meats. That was my turning point, actually becoming very unwell on all these ultra processed vegan lookalike chicken nuggets, hot dogs, etc. I'd never bothered to look at the ingredients lists on the back of these products before - since I assumed (rather naively) that any company that has the planet in mind also has my health in mind. Ha! Nearly everything they make seems to involve starches, vegetable oils, sugar derivatives, wheat derivatives, and a whole chemistry set thrown in for good measure. The more it resembles meat - the less it relates to food. Now that I'm an omnivore again, the improvement in my health is staggering. I'm seeing changes in attitudes too, and in those of my husband and son too. I still have some physical health issues, nothing like I had before, but these might be permanent. Can't expect to abuse my health for 44 years and get away with it.

The vegan organizations ruined everything and are a problem. They pressured a lot of fast food chains and even restaurants to switch to seed oils. Once they found out it was bad they never apologized or asked the companies to change back. The damage was already done. McDonalds was the last to change until one of their managers gave into the pressure because it was cheaper to use in the end. Hence why McDonald fries don't taste quite the same as they remember and they have to mimic the flavors they naturally had cooking the fries in Lard.

@@DruidzTV No, they thought the low fat craze would save lives, and lengthen lives at first because of Ancel Keys. The bottom line is the government don't really care about the publics health. They only got in the public food business and started caring once a President had a heart attack, which was rare at the time. They wanted to know why and whether it was connected to food. Ancel Keys theories and scientific studies won in the end. Backed by global government without even questioning it. Even the UK government did not back their own doctor John Yurdkin who had a counter view and believed sugar caused heart disease.

I’m a caregiver and my clients that I’m caring for are Seventh Day Adventist who are strict vegetarian. They are 84 (male) and 75 (female) who stopped eating meat at age of 8 yes old. They are super demented frail and angry. It’s wild to see the difference. I have to cook for them and they eat a brand of fake meat called Loma Linda. I want to barf every time I have to make them this product. The smell is unlike anything I’ve ever smelt. They talk about how bad meat and animal food is. They brag about how it’s kept them healthy and cancer free. She’s diabetic, demented and has a pace maker. He’s demented to the point that he thinks his wife is his sister. 😞 It’s sad to see knowing what I know about how we need animal proteins and fats for a healthy brain.

It's also not just in elderly, no matter what topic, vegetarians and vegans always get angry first when I tell them an opinion compared to others or have a hard time understanding my point, it's like talking to a brick wall, many vegans also have a hard time learning, most vegans started to learn things in thier 30s even tough they shoild have earlier, same for highly processed duts.

I've been doing carnivore for last month or so. For years I've had chronic depression and insomnia coupled with hip/shoulder joints that would hurt if I lay on them for more than a few minutes so I'd turn more times an hour than a rotisserie chicken. A few weeks into carnivore and I noticed the joints were no longer hurting when I lay on them and my mind is so relaxed I can fall asleep pretty damn quick and wake feeling refreshed. The depression is also vastly diminished.... yes... shit still pisses me off but not as much as they used to and I no longer brood and ruminate on stuff on the helter skelter slide into despair.

This makes me wonder if high reward foods like sugar and fast food trip our brain's reward system so incredibly often that we end up wearing that part of the brain down (habituating), and that's why mental health issues get worse on the standard American diet. I started cycling keto and low carb, and intermittent fasting, over a year ago and my brain is extremely different. I used to have a lot of trouble with my mental health. I was even inpatient for a while. It was really severe. Changing my diet is the ONLY thing that has worked and KEEPS working. I focus on whole foods and I think that's the key. It may not matter so much what kind of diet you try as long as the food is identifiable as a real food. It's self-limiting for me now because each time I cheat on my diet, the feeling of impending doom returns.

Alzeimers dementia is being called "diabetes 2.5" and a disease of glucose metabolism in the brain by the researchers. There are finally controlled intervention trials that show the ketogenic diet *reversed* AD in the elderly. It was much more effective than any medication that exists for it, which slow down the progression of the disease at best.

Any vegan/vegetarian i personally know has mental health abnormalities, anxiety, depression, adhd, etc. And they usually end up eating processed vegetarian foods and other shit, and the emphasis on whole foods is minimal. I wouldn't say I'm perfect mentally as i think i may be on the spectrum and definitely have my ups and downs, but I definitely would consider myself more resilient. Lately I've been eating a similar diet to what you described for yourself, higher protein and fat from beef and chicken, some whole wheat flour, and some frozen fruit daily, then some of whatever my wife makes sometimes and occasionally eating out, and i can tell a huge difference in how i feel in general and then how certain foods will affect me, especially if i eat anything fried. I also have a ton of energy when i get up in the morning, before getting any caffeine. I try not to really restrict myself but I also never really run into a problem of craving anything, and most of the time i could go for just not eating even if I'm hungry.

What I noticed with myself and most other ex-vegans out there, was that the first thing that happened was "mental issues" or cognitive decline, and after re-introducing animal foods it went away. I had a friend who was a strict vegan and I believe to this day she is standing by her views, but after 12 years on the diet it was clear, that her body and brain craved the nutrients found in meat, as the anxiety was eating her up...

Mostly plant-based (with occasional pescatarian) for 5 years, switched to cleaner one (no UPFs, unrefined sugar, stuff made of things not common in household kitchens), and complete vegan for the last 5 months, but still felt unhealthy and had chronic illnesses flare ups, so a week ago i switched back to animal proteins like eggs, yoghurt (i dont have any issue with dairy but aiming to not have it every day), back to fish again, with some chicken and tiny red meat. Had my period back after 5 months of absence (coincidental with the vegan starting), chronic illnesses dialled down. So i think my body feels safe now that it has the nutrition it needs in more readily absorbed form.

I left my job and it kept getting worse, at one point I went back on meat and would meal prep one soup that had a lot of meat with fat and I bounced back in two months, this without knowing the extent at which food influenced our health, then I came upon all these channels and it all made sense, I leveraged my diet and 2 months after that I would say I reached my highest mental wellbeing so far.

I decided to quit alcohol and stopped paying for things I don't really need as examples. I could have always cancelled things like Netflix before a diet change but hopefully the point it clear - I just think differently after.

So it's extremely inefficient and more land is used and more creatures are killed due to us using cattle for food. Feeding tofu directly to humans is many times more efficient than going through cattle.

Its all about gut health and avoiding anything that disturbs the gut, and nutrient absorption, that Is why health is such a puzzle, and if your gut can handle the plant fiber, It may be beneficial otherwise you will have to avoid It, prebiotics probiotics fermented foods and such may be needed If you eat alot of fiber for optimal digestion and the anti nutrients may not give you the optimal nutrition that you require, which is why most people should avoid plants until the gut can handle them properly and instead eat more animal products for nutrients.

For myself, I find that eating only vegetables, fruit, rice, eggs and dairy (yogurt, cheese, etc ) during the week keeps me pretty level both mentally and energy wise. As someone who follows a Mediterranean-adjacent diet thats adapted to be mainly vegetarian/entirely pescetarian diet - I’m really disappointed in vegetarian/Vegan diet participants continuing to make us look bad by not eating a enough protein foods. I say so because while some studies give Pescetarians their own group - they usually throw us in and out of the vegetarian/plant based diet group whenever it’s convenient for them (ie: when pescetarians aren’t a big enough group on our own) It’s annoying because when studying specific health outcomes and enough pescetarians are in the group they often find pescetarians do better than vegetarians/vegans (there’s a few categories of health where they do the same or only nearly as good tho)

Dietary preference? I didn’t finish the video but it does make sense that people who are more sensitive may tend to favor a vegan diet and would also be more prone to negative emotions due to their sensitivity not their vegan diets? Whereas people more “sturdy” might not dwell on animal welfare or stuff like that and roll with the punches of life so are less prone to anxiety and depression? I don’t think the diet is causing the disposition but the disposition is causing the diet. I’ll resume video and see
