I use a snap-swivel at the bottom of the high-low rig to keep the weight from twisting the line. Allows for fast and easy pyramid weight size changes at night. I use squid in Sept-Oct from the Cape Cod Bay beaches to target stripers. Squid are crab resistant and cast well on a high-low. It's the secret weapon to catching big fish. For the past 22 years, I've caught a 40"+ striper every year from the beach. Biggest was 52"

I love all these different rigs but it's funny how they all do the same thing more less. I like the santee and sabiki rigs this one basically puts em together

More baited hooks = more chances of catching a fish! Another great how to! Keep at it Dieter!

I also like it for this time of year when the water temps start to drop. Feel like it helps get the scent out better.

Hard to beat this rig. I use it to catch small bait fish all the way to giant cats. Love your channel dieter👊

thanks Dieter. for some reason i have been really binge watching salt water rigs and fishing on youtube and i decided that it would be cool to see if channel cats would eat a salt water bait , i remember years ago when i was much younger i hated salt water fishing it never felt the same to me as it does now, after watching dieter i have come to learn that fresh and salt water use same rigs except different species for different water conditions

Hey, Dieter. Good how-to video. I really like your way of tongue the dropper. BTW, that knot is a "cow hitch", where you double the line and slip the hook/weight thru the loop. Thank you, sir.

Great video Dieter ,been using the double rig for awhile, being able to fish different baits on them let's you know what's better to use sometimes. It's a game changer in a lot of situations.👍👍👍 , Thanks

Another way to get the float and rattle is to add floats and beads on the dropper loop so the hook floats and the beads bang against the float and rattle. Very popular for surf fishermen

Could you use a crappie rig

Been using a double hook rig for years, my dad taught me how to tie it. A little different than yours but the same principle. Used it for dragging, a weight at the top and a float at the bottom. I'll have to try yours out.

That’s called a paternoster rig. Also, if you cut the loop like you demonstrated, you can put a bead or some lumo tube on before the hook which can help prevent tangles and attract fish.

I used that rig for yrs, my wife loves it and won’t use anything else, I typically use the Carolina rig, but trying the 3 way out too

Hmmm I've got an idea for this rig that may end up being a disaster but I think I'm gonna try it

Hello! I love your content and it’s very informative. Recently I gained permission to fish a neighbors secluded private pond. While it is a pond it’s very deep and long. I haven’t gotten any catfish there but noticed the bigger bass I was catching had bite marks. Do you think there’s monster catfish deep down attacking the bass?
@DieterMelhorn Жыл бұрын
Probably not "monster", but a pond can grow some big channel cats.....

Love this rig I just don’t use two hooks and use a bank sinker but I just use another 8 knot for my hooks

If you aren't/weren't a school teacher, you should hve been. Excellent presntation; now if I can just get my old fingers to work on 10 lb. line I will be in business.
