Promoting a healthy, "detox" lifestyle and having a glass of wine regularly, considering alcohol is neurotoxic, even if it is such a small amount, seems to be a little ridiculous. If your body is strong enough to cope with a glass of wine, it is strong enough to handle a cookie, I think. And to leave away the celery juice.

@rachelmaddowswife871310 ай бұрын
@@maryssa8593 That's not true. I (who also have celiac) don't know why your particular friend developed the disease, many of us develop it randomly as adults, but studies show that actually the more gluten you eat the more likely you are to develop it. They think this is why the prevalence is higher in some countries even when you control for genetics. That said, I'd also recommend that people who don't need things like gluten free baked goods avoid them, because they're more expensive, often don't taste as good, and often have more calories than the original wheat version.

OMG! I met Julianne Hough at a CVS on La Brea (West Hollywood), in July 2014. It was close to midnight, and I was there with 3 friends purchasing snack food and drinks after dining down the road at Nobu (we had spent $60 each and were still hungry!). She was there with her assistant getting Cheetos/chips/cookies/sugary stuff as they OBVIOUSLY had the munchies... How do I know? They were giggling uncontrollably and about to get to the register when this big guy basically shoved them out of his way and took their place with the cashier... my friends and I started joking around with them as we had witnessed this rude guy and we continued chatting for quite a while. They were obviously red-eyed stoned but really lovely and chatty. Why am I bothering to type this? Because this "wellness" bs is a far cry from the Julianne I met that day and I don't buy her wellness shtick for a second! The girl was truthful when she said she loves flour, sugar, etc... she opened a package of chips ahoy and stuffed her face before she even reached her SUV in the parking lot!!! PS: Back then, I was the ONLY one who recognized her (Footloose).

I have endometriosis. You need a balanced diet and to be careful with overall glycemic load of food - which makes that butternut squash soup without protein a no no. Endometriosis has little to do with specific foods and more the overall balance of each meal. Alcohol without some protein or carb for absorption is a recipe for cramps.
@ellegraph47403 жыл бұрын
As someone else who has endometriosis, it is advised that we stay away from coffee and problematic, triggering foods. Because of this, for me, coffee is a treat too. I am with Julianne, that having a cookie might actually cause a flare that inhibits her functioning that day. Clearly Abby was way uninformed about all of these things and chose a hyper-judge mental route. This is a topic she knows nothing about and it shows.

As a coffee drinker, I didn't get triggered by what she said about coffee (I respect anyone who doesn't need coffee, because I wish I had that relationship with it). I just assumed that Julianne might struggle with some form of generalized anxiety or depression, that is triggered and worsened by the sudden high caffeine content in coffee. Which is the case for two of my friends, one to this day does not drink coffee because it unhealthy ramps up her anxiety and the other one only drinks in moderation. I dont know but in this video you kinda came across as a bit of a bully towards Julianne, and as someone who follows a whole food diet because of IBS (I'm allergic to Fructans like onions/garlic so that gets rid of the majority of processed foods). So the one thing I want to flag when it comes to Ayervedic traditions for food is that you're right that we definitely don't have evidence to support the claims. But we also don't have evidence to refute them for the most part, because we don't put a ton of research money into eastern medicine traditions (largely due to the health/wellness industry being steeped in white supremacy). While I'm convinced Julianne is probably appropriating a bit of the culture and isn't trying to bring awareness to cultural significance, I don't think it's fair to discount the tradition and cultural way of eating for people who do practice Ayerveda. As a future RD, evidence-based practice is obviously super important to me. But simultaneously, we also need to be aware that many our research to get evidence is focused on what we assume to be "valid" based on western ideals. For example, we don't have evidence-based health benefits for Christians taking communion, or for Jews eating Challah. But in those religions and cultures it's considered important for spiritual health, which could help reduce stress that could affect physical health.

I get where she's coming from with health from the inside out. You never know what people are going through - - I used to laugh at people who were holding to "arbitrary" diet standards, and then my doctor suggested I try eliminating gluten, dairy, and sugar from my diet to aid with my severe Bipolar 1 disorder (in combination with medication and therapy of course). It's made a huge difference and while some days I do crave a cookie, I know that I will overall be best served by sticking to my boundaries, even though I'm not strictly intolerant or allergic and other people might roll their eyes. At the end of the day, what matters is that I'm happy and healthy, not what other people think, and I'll hold the same space for her. Except for the celery juice 🤣🤢

@@theywalkinguptoyouand4060 she says it has made a significant difference. There is a ton of research about the impact of diet on both psychological and physiological diseases. Hi Abbey, I just wanted to leave a comment on what you say about dosha's being "personality traits." That is AN element of it, but its not the only one. I wish people would stop getting their information on Ayurveda from celebrities like Julianne and Gwynneth Paltrow! I am currently in training to be a practitioner and it is in essence is a holistic, practical approach to food and the one which has helped me to heal my relationship with food. The way I have been taught is to not pay attention to "what food to eat for your dosha" unless experiencing discomfort. Instead we are supposed to eat seasonally and according to our own intuition. We are also taught to include food of ALL tastes into one meal, protein, a bitter vegetable, a sweet vegetable and grains, cooked in ghee or olive oil (hunger crushing combo). So kindly, please refrain from comparing it to western science or research. Its not the same, its mind/body and spiritually focused 🙏🏼 Also warming foods are not specifically recommended for Vata dosha, its seasonal and dependent on the time of year. Sorry for the ramble but I get a little bit miffed sometimes. As a Punjabi, the practices of our indigenous cultures often get poo pooed by western medicine and science only for them to then appropriate it later.

Maybe because I’ve met Julianne at a charity event and she was lovely, but I think we could use some context here in that she is a dancer and a performer. This could inform why she “isn’t supposed to drink coffee” and “why she has to eat gluten free”. I have friends who were dancers and when we had big performances if they drank coffee they felt like they would pass out after the performance because their heart rate went up too much, or they had to be careful what they ate (sometimes had to be gluten free) before because their performance anxiety would put them on the toilet if they had pizza for lunch for example.
