I loved your work with the VH4, but I am still always blown away by your modded JCM 800 tone. Try the Joyo British Sound. No shit. Or the Tech 21 British it clones. Character 3 oclock, crank the knobs & don't be a pussy, and it'll go right up to early Fear Factory and most any other Marshall flavor you'd like. Wampler Pinnacle 3 knob eq version. Ecstasy Red. AMT M1, but that's more a stock 800 sound.

Euge! Great playing as usual- would be really interested to hear that VH4 with a Marshall (any of em really but ideally with a JMP/super lead/super bass) to see if you could get that Adam Jones mid heavy crunch out of it. You know seeing that you a VH4 around would be an awesome time to do an in the style of Adam Jones. I know his playing isn’t for everyone but the techniques like the pull through, unison bends and hammer ons combined with his tone result in a tits combo. I would be very interested to hear your take on those techniques and hear you play some of his licks🤘🏻

@EugeValovirta230V3 жыл бұрын
I guess it depends what one likes. For me the thing that works the best is just ad SD-1 in front. The resonance boosts around 80-90 hz on this one which is a bit low for tight low (around 100-120hz would be more ideal IMO) so the resonance is there just to add some thump to the sound and it works differently with different cabs / speakers etc. so the best thing is to just try and hear & feel what is the best for you 😎.

I never really liked these amps. They are nothing special to me, and they cost a fortune. I am sure they are made really well. Great demo as always! You showed what this amp can do. Your bad-boy is still my favorite.
@EugeValovirta230V3 жыл бұрын
I think this was actually the first time I played with one and I understand why people like / don’t like them ’cos they have quite a strong character. I liked it but I still prefer Marshalls the most ’cos those have the character I grew up and learned to play and it always feels like coming home when playing with one. Especially with The Bad Boy 😎👌. Thanks!

@@EugeValovirta230V I really like the tone from Judas Priest Painkiller. From what I remember, they used a Marshall JMP-1 into a el34 monobloc power amp, into 1960a cabs. They also used something in front of it, maybe a tubescreamer. Does this sound accurate?

I bought an old script vh4 expecting it to be the holy grail amp. Not at all. Sold after a couple months. Huge, tight and compressed....never got on with the voicing or feel. I much prefer my Bogner 101b.

I hear you man 😎👌
@EugeValovirta230V3 жыл бұрын
I have no idea. Could be anything ’cos the sound mostly comes from the hands and in case of records the mixing engineer’s hands play a huge role too. But probably a Marshall of some kind 😎.

There’s one for sale at a local music store for a really good price, I’m thinking about buying it but with it being 100W idk if that’s a good idea. Do you think volume will be a problem? I’m in an apartment.
@EugeValovirta230V3 жыл бұрын
100 watt tube amps were originally designed for big arenas back in the day when there wasn’t really a proper PA systems so they are insanely loud. I’ve had volume problems even on medium size 500-1000 people venues (too loud) 😎. But nowadays we have cab attenuators & reactive loads so these monsters could be played even on bedroom levels 👌. And yes you could run them with master volume barely open but there’s no point ’cos it’d be pretty much the same than driving a Formula 1 racing car on children’s traffic park 😎.

Diezel was what Hetfield went to wasn’t it? Euge, have you ever checked out Wizard amps? I hear that Malcolm used them some in AC/DC.
@michaelmitchell59093 жыл бұрын
Thats exactly what hetfield uses, and they sound every bit as good as they look, and are built like a tank.....as soon as you hit power chord, you know exactly why it cost so much
@EugeValovirta230V3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I guess he uses those and many other brands but for the past few years just a Fractal on tours. Yeah they’re kinda like Marshalls but with their own twist 👌.

Maybe i'm too much of a audiophile but Diezel has uncomfortable fuzz for me, I prefer your Marshall Bad Boy. I think ENGL SE would sound better than Bad Boy but I'm not 100% sure it would be great video to do
